In Denver last week we ate at a restaurant that automatically added 2% for the kitchen.

Not only did you tip the kitchen crew, but they charged you tax on that gratuity. And expected you to tip on top of that.

This past weekend we had the credit cards fees added to our bill to go along with the tip.

If you decided to pay with cash, would they have removed the fee?

multiple 3.5% to 3.8% transaction fees add up over the night.

And I think this is silly; it should be cheaper now to pay electronically than to pay for the time of all the people involved in handling, counting, & transferring a cash transaction from customer until deposited.

I am reluctant to give tips to some people - like the person at buffets who fills your water. It's water. And they don't say a word.
Or anyone working behind a counter ringing up my purchase. Tip? What's the point?
