I belong to a very good website for retrieving drivers for XP. I also ran into a small problem with a driver for my soundcard but got an excellent technician from Dell who was able to figure out a way to get an older driver to work with my newer sound card. Sounds really good now! It can be done, you just have to have the right people in your pocket to help pull it off. The site I was referring to is called DriverAgent.com Fix Your Driver Problems Instantly with DriverAgent Great place! :yay:

Acer anything can be deleted. Its just all BS in my opinion and a waste of space.

You need drivers simple as that. The rest of the stuff they add on from the factory can be deleted.

I got a driver update for my video card for my Acer on their website.

Installed it, rebooted, BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! :burning:

Acer laptops look much better than they are. Even the specs look great. But, they perform about as well as a squirrell would perform in a fight against a lion.

All personal preference. Mine works just fine as do a few friends with Acers.

We use Dell's primarily... most of our drivers we download right from the vendor, it has been NVIDIA lately... the performance on the NVIDIA drivers vice Dell's tweaked/signed NVIDIA version is much better on the NVIDIA direct...

I would get the drivers from the manufacturer - you are getting bleeding edge fixes and enhancements.

DELL laptops are actually really good.

I've seen very few die.

I have to agree with Dell's being very good, and rarely have seen any of them die. I am a Dell fan. HOWEVER, this particular laptop I paid 4000.00 for when it was new and the hottest machine out there has done nothing BUT break down on me. Now finally after a year and a half they are going to send me a new one. That took a long time coming, but how many company's would send you a NEW laptop after fighting with one for a year and a half trying to breath life into it again. I can't even begin to think Acer or HP would do that. But that is just my opinion!

I didn't mean it "forces" me to, I meant the way I'm required to go get the file. I miss the simple drop down menu's and being able to see the thumbnails. I do have 2 MB of RAM.
Ok, update....

After 2 weeks, I'm coming around. I've figured things out. 1st of all, I have 2 GB of RAM, not MB. :stupid:

I figured out the thumbnail and scroll issues.

The computer is not slow at all. Starts up MUCH faster than any of my old ones.

There are still features I don't care for but they aren't serious enough to concern me. It has learned my style of usage and accomodates me.

I basically surf and post here so I'm ok with it now. :yay:

Glad to hear it eased up on 'ya... I am going to make the switch on my laptop for testing at home as a remote user.

What was the trackpad fix?
