That is the shoe tree from SMCM. When you had sex for the first time at the school you threw your sneakers up in the tree...The shoes are NEVER taken down...until they rot away.
No girl shoes?

In NYC where I grew up, you through a pair up on a line when you moved out of the area. left the sneakers behind as a sort of memorial. We were very territorial on our street. Your block was your block and anyone else was an invader of sorts. wasn't gang related though.

On Town Creek Drive, just across from the school, there are three pairs of shoes, laces tied together, hanging from an overhead line. Not all three on one line, but one pair each on three separate lines.

they have been there forever... why because I live on that road :)

There are a ton of shoes up there...go check it out. Its right nex to Dorchester hall. I don't know if it is as active as it used to be...I know in the late 70's that tree had more shoes on it than a Nike factory.

We threw shoes up there because we were bored. We would see who could get the pair to stay up there first.

Hi Stu,

Please try not to be so bitter that they turned down your application. They need to try to keep their standards up somehow.
