OMG I did the stupidest thing

:banghead:

I ordered an expensive eye cream from Sephora to treat myself. I hadn't ordered from them in a long time....and accidentally sent it to my very old and now somebody else's PO Box in California, MD.

:cds:

I got a notification that it was delivered today, but it wasn't at my package center. This isn't unusual because sometimes what they mean is that it was delivered to the post office and hasn't made it to my address yet. So I went into my account to track it and saw that it was delivered to that PO Box.

So the only thing I can hope for is that either the current box holder is honest and turns it in, or I can call Monday and explain the situation and get the package returned before the box holder gets to it. I wouldn't be so upset about gifting a stranger a freaking $70 (yes, you read that right) eye cream, but it also included a bunch of freebies as well. I can order another eye cream but those freebies are gone baby gone.

I can't believe I did that. :banghead:

Getting old is rough

Except upon further investigation, it appears it wasn't me. I just looked at my account and my correct address is there as the default and the PO Box isn't.

So I'm not crazy, and that's good. I distinctly remember changing the address and checking it when I placed the order but, as you said, senioritis and all.....

It'll get sorted out on Monday. It just pisses me off because I was really looking forward to getting my goodies. Grrrr.....

Okay, that was easier than I thought it would be. I got on a chat with the Sephora gal and she's resending my order WITH freebies to my correct address - I checked and made sure it really was the correct address - and Monday I'll call the PO and hopefully get that package returned.

So what happened is they keep all my old addresses in their database even though they don't show up in my online account because I "deleted" them. There were a million for me from when Monello and I were traveling, a bunch for my daughter and DIL and assorted friends that I've sent gifts to. They had my daughter's address from when she was in college. :faint: The rep I chatted with deleted them all except my current address.

So there's your PSA for the day - ALWAYS check your confirmation email and make sure they're sending your stuff to the correct address because computer glitches apparently happen, if you can believe it.

Update:

My replacement package should be here tomorrow
The misdelivered one was returned to sender
My IRS adventure was resolved quickly and mostly painlessly - navigating QB for the report I needed was more PITA than dealing with the IRS
A/C guy was here for my 6-month checkup and everything is in great shape
Gretel is still eating her chow
I found a ribeye in the freezer that is now marinating for dinner
I have time for a nap before I have to run errands

It's a good day. :bann:

I did the same thing, ordered some Christmas gifts and didnt check the default address, it was delivered to my old place of employment in Waldorf. I called my former supervisor and she advised the packages had arrived and was a little curious why I would have them sent there, drove up the next day and picked them up. Also deleted that address from my account.

It's a bloated mess - QuickBooks more so than the IRS. I still run QB17 for my companies that don't need payroll processing and it is so smooth and quick.

Someone I know had 2 things delivered to my house because they had not changed their address when the moved.

One was a pizza. The other was a phone. I refused the pizza (but tipped the poor driver, since it wasn't his fault) The phone got returned to FEDEX, no forwarding address.

After the phone episode, Thing1 was laughing hysterically and said "well, that wasn't very smart, TWO TIMES, now was it?!" :killingme
