Transubstantiation (in Latin, transsubstantiatio, in Greek μετουσίωσις metousiosis) is, according to the teaching of the Catholic Church, the change by which the bread and the wine used in the sacrament of the Eucharist become, not merely as a sign or a figure, but also in actual reality the body and blood of Christ.[1][2] The Catholic Church teaches that the substance, or reality, of the bread is changed into that of the body of Christ and the substance of the wine into that of his blood,[3] while all that is accessible to the senses (the outward appearances - species[4][5][6] in Latin) remains unchanged.[7]:1413[8]

So what that means is they use it as a metaphor for the flesh and blood of Christ, much like, hmmm, uh Christ did.

Not that many--again, stop being dishonest

Names are what you call people when you've run out of arguments, become frustrated and can't speak to the issue anymore because you are making it personal when it doesn't have to be.

I have the book "Charts of Christian Theology and Doctrine" by H. Wayne House.
P.79 is Foour Views on Water Baptism and Page 80 is Four Views on the Lord's Supper.

Interpretation of "This is my Body". The Roman Catholic interpretation is "Literal Interpretation". The Lutheran view is "Literal Interpretation". The Presbyterian Interpretation is "Nonliteral Interpretation". The Baptist and Mennonite interpretation is "Nonliteral Interpretation". There are explanations for each and the Lutheran views says the elements do not change but Christ is present in the elements. The Reformed view is that Christ is present spiritually in the partaking of the elements and the Baptist view is that Christ is not present in the elements.

Each denomination has thousands if not millions of followers. You said, "Not that many--again, stop being dishonest". Really? Have you been to every church in America? Have you been to every church in every state? Have you been to every church around the world? How do you know what Christians from other denominations have argued for from around the world? How many years have passed since Jesus died on the cross? You're saying, "not that many". How do you know?

Let me add my category to this book. Let's call it Biblical.

I want to write a paper on Christ's speech.

New International Version
"Consider carefully what you hear," he continued. "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you--and even more.

Why should you consider carefully what you hear if what was said was plain? Then why are there at least four views?

Matthews 13:10 ¶ And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

Why do you suppose Jesus speaks in parables?

So if you love darkness instead of light, you will choose the wrong path and not have eternal life because...

Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

The truth is so plain that anyone can believe but "lest" means "not at any time" and it is a particle of negation. Why should God heal you and why should you be converted and see with your eyes?
You love the Catholic church? I hope they tell you the truth someday because what you are learning is not His word. What you are learning is a departure from His word because Jesus spoke in parables.

God doesn't want sin in His house so why don't we just have everyone believe and no one repent? Because you don't repent, you don't have clear reading or interpretation of what God said which is necessary to understand what He meant.

So we can argue forever. I'm not a liar. You are frustrated with lack of information that you have to resort to verbal attacks.

King James Bible
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
http://biblehub.com/james/1-20.htm

You can't force me to do things that you believe are God's ways by being angry at me because the scripture says, "the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God." Your anger is actually Biblically counterproductive.

How many other people were angry? Did they solve it by arguing? Yeah, they argued in an effort to solve it.

Chuck you have proven again that your reading comprehension is either that of a two year old OR you (once again) are being dishonest. I said not that many--as in not that many centuries...it went completely over your head. Also your laughable assertion that some denominations have millions of followers. There are 1.6 BILLION Catholics. Just a bit higher than "millions." And by the way, no one on this forum cares how many books you have.

Does anyone else want to tell you how you are acting?

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
