Online Shopping for Seeds

We haven't yet, but are thinking about it for some blueberry bushes.

Somebody on here bought some leyland cyprus trees online a few months ago I believe. Can't find the thread though.

Also, Chesapeake Auction House is having 3 landscape auctions this spring. We got a great deal on plants there last spring.

Hey Huntr, Please bump this tread as we get closer to the auctions, I'd like to go this year. I'd like to plant some apple trees out back.

Don't usually buy online. Get all kinds of catalogues in the mail, i.e. Burpees, Gurneys, Henry Fields, etc. Depending on how much seed you use, they have good prices. If you're not planting much just go to Lowes and buy your plants. I usually grow my tomatoes from seed because I can order the type of seed that I want. You can also get it from those cataloges I mentioned online.

I saw that this morning when I was looking for the link. Isn't it cool! The rabbits would definitely be confused about how to munch on that one.

They didn't have any fruit trees last year. They had dawgwoods, flowering cherries, jap red maple, leyland cyprus, azaleas, rhododendrons, juniper, holly, yew and assorted other plants that I can't remember off the top of my head. We bought our apple, plum & cherry trees from Wentworths when they closed the San Soucie (sp) Plaza store.
But that doesn't mean they won't have any this year. All the plants have a 1 year warrantee. Our 2 dogwoods both got the blight and died, they replaced them no questions asked with flowering cherries of like size as per my request.

2A likes the grapes but I prefer the Sweet100's (cherry tomato). I had so many one year I got tired of picking them after a month or so.

We're going to plant some tomatoes this year! I'm so excited. I'm terrible with plants. Hopefully B will be better. He tried to get rid of some brush and couldn't. Unsuccessful at trying to kill things is probably a good sign.

I was at Lowe's on Saturday and got some plants to pot and put on the front porch. A daffodil and a tulip. Plus how sweet am I.... When I was walking by the indoor plants I saw a Shamrock and got it for B. I even transplanted it into a blue pot. I didn't think he'd appreciate it (being a man and all) but he loved it (at least he acted like he did which is good enough for me).

I used to like those Sweet 100's till I tasted the grape tomatoes and I was hooked. I usually put some beefmasters in along with a few yellow tomatoes.

Several years ago I person I knew had a son that was arrested for buying seeds online. He mentioned that they were from Amsterdam.

Then you definitely DON'T want the Sweet Million's, the improved, better-producing version of the Sweet 100. :lmao:

For seeds and seedlings, I've order from Park Seed, Burpee, Thompson & Morgan, and a ton of other places on-line. Burpee by far has the best plants.
