Opinions

This has been on facebook and and I've read a few comments. Don't want to taint this so I'm not saying what they were. Let's hear what actual bike riders have to say. One thing I will note that I haven't actually checked out is I guess it is legal in KY to pass on a solid line in a rural area if it's safe to do so.

I'm sure if the person in the pickup truck lives on that road he's tired of bikes flying and racing down the road.

Trying to run the guy off of the road may not have been the answer, but passing him like he did on the double yellow, and screaming down a road that may have a 35 MPH limit (I never saw a speed limit sign) and more than likely making a hell of a racket in a rural community could understand the truck driver getting upset, and "had enough"!.

You want to drive like an idiot on a bike, and show no respect or concern for others, you should expect the same in return.

I pretty much agree with this Bob, but regardless of how the truck driver felt, he should be arrested for aggravated assault and/or attempted murder with a deadly weapon (the truck). The truck driver had no call whatever to do what he did.

Realizing that most passing zones are placed with cars in mind and not a vehicle that accelerates like a motorcycle, I have on occasion passed on a double yellow. If you've driven Rt.234 out to 301 you know there are long dashed line passing zones on curves where it would be crazy to pass.

Most places the penalty for crossing the double yellow is a fine and/or points. I don't think it should be death at the hands of a pickup driving local.

I'll post what I posted on the FB comment.

From a bike rider, the A-hole on the crotchrocket passed on yellow lines. Both should have their license revoked.

I bet he tells his friends and people he meets, that he knows that road like the back of his hand, so hes driving ok. I think it was a southen marylander that made that saying famous.

I agree, the bike riders were flying down that road, but the guy in the truck totally over reacted, first trying to run him off the road into a tree and then trying to catch up to him, he was driving like an idiot. One person thought the video was a set-up or a fake. I don't think so. I hope the guy in the truck had a real bad day from then on.

Biker should have his license suspended, truck driver should be up on attempted murder charges. The thing that cracks me up is that he got raged out over the biker being over the double yellow for 2 seconds on a straight away. Then spends maybe 70 seconds to maybe 2 minutes over the double yellow himself, mostly in corners. Bikers an azzhole. Truckers a super-mega azzhole. Like opening up on a neighborhood with a minigun because you saw a kid with a pellet gun shoot at a bird.

Why should the biker have his license suspended? Speeding or passing on a solid line? I don't think either are suspendable offenses.

At about 1:10 into it, there is a shot looking at the front of the truck. This makes me suspicious of the accusation. I think it was staged.

Are you sure that is the front? I sure think I see an ATV parked there if it is. I had to look at that several times before I decided they were just playing that part of the video in reverse. Besides if it was from the front there had to have been a bike in front of the one that almost got ran off. Where is he in the first part of the video?

I saw that too. I have to wonder if the two bikers weren't out to have some "fun" with cars. Otherwise, why would they have had the camera running in the first place? Either way, they were both in the wrong.

Not uncommon for bikers to wear cams while riding like that, especially in places like the Dragon or Blue Ridge. One facing forward, one facing back so both riders are in the video.

Watch carefully, that is the pass seen playing backwards. They rewound the tape, so to speak, so you could see it again.

As for why record, lots of motorsports folks do that. I have videos I have shot both on my bike and in my car.

DR, driving that way on a roadway like that is most likely reckless driving under state law. Given the amount of driveways and such, speeds like these guys were pulling is very dangerous. Making the assumption that nobody is pulling out of a driveway around a corner is asking for it. So, its not the pass, but the driving overall.

Interesting how people see things so differently. I saw a truck driver who is driving like a maniac, all over the place, cutting every curve - nothing personal against the biker.

If indeed the truck was trying to chase the bike down, Young Bubba is in the wrong. #1, passing someone isn't a sin. #2, when someone does cut you off or commit some other vehicular danger, you don't chase them down - you think, "What an idiot!" and go on about your merry way.

And I agree with mAlice that it's probably staged. I think people put these videos together as a social experiment to see how different people will react.

Yep, it took me about three times looking at it. I knew it didn't look right the first time.

Definately reckless.

A double yellow means no passing. Nowhere is it written that it's okay for a biker. It was illegal what he did and what you did. Both the truck driver ans the biker should be locked up for many violations!

My reaction as well, but I think the intitial cut-off with the biker involved was intentional.

Yep, he seemed to be just cruising along before that. Then he definitely picked up speed and was cutting all the corners in an effort to catch him. Like that was going to happen.
