A double yellow means no passing. Nowhere is it written that it's okay for a biker. It was illegal what he did and what you did. Both the truck driver ans the biker should be locked up for many violations!

Not so fast, there are exceptions to every rule. Not here in MD, but in at least two states.....

In some states, it is not against the law to overtake vehicles in the presence of solid yellow lines if it is safe to do so. Section 3303 and 3305 of the Pennsylvania driver code are examples.[3] Vermont State Law also allows passing of the double yellow line when no traffic is on the opposing side, however, one must pass quickly and return to the proper side.[4]

Does that include Kentucky? It was illegal.

Do you know that is doesnt? I would say, rather than "It was illegal", that it might have been. In any case he was driving in an illegal manner regarding speed, so the pass is sort of irrelevant.

Yep, I mentioned that I "heard" it may be legal there in my first post. Their speeds certainly were not though.

Not uncommon for bikers to wear cams while riding like that, especially in places like the Dragon or Blue Ridge. One facing forward, one facing back so both riders are in the video.

Watch carefully, that is the pass seen playing backwards. They rewound the tape, so to speak, so you could see it again.

As for why record, lots of motorsports folks do that. I have videos I have shot both on my bike and in my car.

:buddies:

My reaction as well, but I think the intitial cut-off with the biker involved was intentional.

It definitely seemed they were "baiting" the truck driver. Doesn't make what the truck driver did okay though.

 how does passing = baiting?

It doesn't. It was just an impression I got from the video. Especially since it went on for about nine minutes when the initial pass happened very early in the video. It just gave me the feeling that they may have been "playing" with the truck driver, or had done something similar before.

He comes up behind the pickup at about 1 minute into the video and then almost immediately passes him. Don't see how this rider was "playing" him.

Perhaps other riders had in the past

There are a lot of a$$holes on the road that think it's clever to intimidate other drivers. I've had folks try to rub their bumper on my back tire

Take it for what it's worth - but this was posted on another forum by supposedly the guy on the bike involved.

Hey guys,Yes its me.We are working with the local authorities to bring this POS to justice. They are not interested in the double yellow pass.It was a good pass. The truck was slow moving and it was within the law.

No arrest made yet.The truck was not resistered to the driver.

This guy had it out for sportbikes ue to some one on one allegedly running his mom of the road at some point.Per douchbag.
He would have attempted something if we passed or not.

Really wanted to rip his head off but refrained as other people passing would have witnessed 2 bikers beating on one guy.It would have made a bad situation worse and I wanted the police to handle it.An a$$ wopping fades after a while, legal action can hang around a while.

Google is your friend. Look up Kentucky laws of the road. Does not state it is legal to pass on a double solid line. In fact it does say it is ILLEGAL!

You may not pass when there is a solid yellow center line on your side of the
road.

I'll bet the penalty for passing on a double yellow does not include being slammed into a ditch on the side of the road
If you feel compelled to do stupid things you should expect stupid things in return.

Some people feel they are above the law. Unfortunately this is one reason why people get killed.

Looks like he did and handled it pretty well. Thanks for looking up the law, I'd say they are all in for some court time.
Yes, but don't get me wrong. The truck driver needs to be put away for a long time and the biker needs his motorcycle license taken away.

Nah, what he did was illegal and the way he was riding was reckless. Should warrant a fine and possible suspension in my book. Biker probably won't be in one piece in a few years anyway if he keeps that up.

You are definitely right about his time left. The ones who do that sort of thing must think they are invincible. I think it's just a lack of grey matter.

I am so very blessed
Imagine, if you will, buying a home in a very rural setting, waking to the sounds of cows mooing, and the steady low hum of tractors working the fields...

Then one day you wake up and realize your rural country road has turned into the Dragon's Tail??

How receptive would YOU be to the bikes and bikers screaming down your road every day, day after day, night after night?

These are high revving, NOISY bikes. As loud, if not louder than a Harley with straight pipes.. A different frequency noise but as loud or louder... Wouldn't take me long to get frustrated, and what's funny as the bikers out there doing it would be just as furious if the same thing was going on on the road THEY lived on.

I think I would tend to leave objects in the road. Like hay bales, little piles of straw or hubcaps. You know, just to make their ride more interesting. Especially by the houses.

Bikers - Speeding way over the limit = azzholes

Truck Driver = Super Azzhole ... probably fed up with constant crotch rockets speeding by - Still Wrong .... should face some attempted man slaughter / murder charge

one really does not want be driving on 210 between Oxon Hill and Accokeek / 228 in nice weather - The Africans go zooming by at speeds in excess of 90 ... (I have been passed while driving 65 -70 like I was backing up) on their Kamikaze Crotch Rockets, its a wonder 210 isn't line with white crosses
