My boyfriend and I started last week. I love it so much. Its so much better then any videos I have used over the years. My boyfriend strictly was a weight lifter only. He finally tried something different (P90X) and he loves it also. I love the rippen abs program. I think we would do more, but we are following the program. OOpps, I hate the yoga. Thats the only thing. Its boring. So we are using yoga day as a walking day.

I like it. It's hard. Yoga kicks your butt. I can run 5 miles but I can really FEEL a p90X workout.

Switch your yoga to Saturday am and move Kenpo to Thursday. DO NOT SKIP THE YOGA! The yoga belly 7 is a better ab sequence than ARX IMHO. I haven't done yoga once this time around and my results are suffering from it. So, this Saturday am I will be downward dogging to chataranga for 92 minutes.

I started it myself as well. Can't seem to get my wife to join in. So far down 8 lbs in 2 weeks. Week 3 starts tomorrow!

The downward dog really hurts my lower back. Yoga is just so boring for me. I just cannot get into it. I love all the rest though. Can't wait to get home tonight and do my next video.

I started and stopped the P90X program in a few times in the past. It takes a pretty big committment to follow the program to a t. I am looking forward to starting it again soon and continuing it til the end this time. The only issue I have with it is that it is somewhat cardio-intensive and I am a thin guy so in order for me not to drop weight I need to cram the calories and use high-weight/low reps.

So, everyone who has recently started the P90X program, how is it going?
I just ordered it today after examining it a number of times over the last 3 months. I'm simply tired of the treadmill and my workout machine (Total Gym)...boring!!

After researching the many options, I've decided that I need this now . I've looked long and hard for something that works with minimum equipment. This seems to be the ticket! I'm 5'9 205 lbs; 20lbs over the weight I'd like to be, so this won't be a major weight loss program. I need more chest and about 4" less in my ab area. My legs and arms look good thanks to decades of playing tennis. :really:

I used to do aerobics 7 days a week for over 15 years and it showed. My doctor couldn't believe that my resting heart rate, in my 40's, was that of a teenager. Today (at 56) I probably cannot do full aerobic workouts but I do plan to make the most of the abs and weight workout routines.

Hopefully by May 2011, I'll be back to my 185 goal.

Good luck!!! There are a few people I know who use the P90X program and love the results. BTW, there are many people > 55 years who can/do “full” aerobic workouts, you should give it a try again when you get bored of P90X.

Thanks! I've been jogging (on my treadmill) for an hour a day, 3-5 days a week for the last 2 years but I haven't felt comfortable getting my heart rate up to where I used to get it 25 years ago. I can do some elevated heart rate stuff but not too much of it. Right now I need the exercises more than the cardio...

Ok, I gotcha, this is your idea of slowing down. You definitely have a respectable cardio routine. I do about that much cardio a week too. I’m in my 40’s and find it the perfect amount (not too much, not too little). Never have been much for marathons etc.

From 1980-1989 I did a 30 minute aerobic workout every day of the year unless I was playing tennis or football or swimming that particular day. That is what conditioned my heart soo well. So yes, it is slowing down somewhat.

It all came to an end last July, I developed a heel injury a few weeks after playing tennis (although it wasn't caused by playing tennis). I had to sell my tread mill last month because I just can't run or jump right now. I'm hoping that this P90X will work out the heel problem somehow. I've gained 15 pounds since June and I'm not happy about it...

week 10

Do the yoga as presented, I didnt like it either - too boring, after the first 35-40 minutes couldnt see the point, but a much better workout than 'walking'... IMO if you are going to substitute something for yoga put in cardio X instead. Our Treadmill, elliptical and total gym are collecting dust now although I do still use the total gym for pull up motions when elbow is acting up. down 17 pounds and much more muscle definitiion now - at pretest I couldn't do all the 'minimums' but too stubbborn to build up to it so I started 90x anyway - it works!

I have a few hurts that restrict what I do but this looks like a really good program for most people. I'm just not sure I can do what's needed on this program for it to be successful for me.

I mix up my routine as much as possible and go low impact because I have to - elliptical, strength with weights, resistance bands, zumba, aqua aerobics and the ocassional stationary bike. I work in some core and stretch as much as possible. I've hit a plateau but I figure if I maintain my weight during the holidays I'm ahead of the game.

BTW - men lose quicker and easier than women, especially at middle age. That's why wives normally don't join their husbands - it's like salt in the wound when you try to do everything right but don't see the same results. Try getting the wife to go with someone in her weight and goal range, she'll feel better about it and herself.

Modify the motions to something you can do, something better than nothing - but I will say I have no use for Xstretch during the recovery weeks, I do the cardio instead. Did I mention I hadnt exercised in over 10 years and now I actually look forward to (most) of the workouts...

What is "Xstretch"?
How closely do you folks follow the eating guide?
What equipment do you use?
Did you get the floor mat and dumbells from the P90X people or a store?

That is also why I feel that P90X is exactly what I want. The main obstacle to my working out was always mental. Physically, I wanted to exercise but I couldn't if I wasn't in the mood. I've always been physically active and into sports because they were fun and good for me. Hopefully the "muscle confusion" will be mentally exciting too, because it won't be routine...

Xstretch is a stretching routine that is hella boring - I never liked to exercise so I want to actually do 'something' that I can trick my pea sized brain into believing is useful. I got a mat from the NEX as well as dumbells - the p90x store seems awfully expensive although their shake was superior in taste to what I got at gnc - but at tons more $$$ I think i'll stick with GNC...
The food plans - at first was all gung ho on it but in the real world I dont have time to prepare all the stuff for a decent meal and work out in addition to have any other life so kind of fell away from it BUT that being said I buy no more chips, candy, fast food etc - basically eat like a normal person SHOULD instead of the way I like.
