Paranoid mom-to-be - OB in Calvert/Annapolis?

You have to do whatever makes you feel comfortable!!! The ONLY reason I delivered my daughter at Civista was because of my OB. But after reading the above comment, I am leery of delivering the twins there! On one hand, I really want my OB to deliver them - on the other, I already know of so many risks (i.e., I will not get past 37 weeks) that maybe I need to be thinking more like you are???

Please don't let my "what ifs" drive you nuts, too. A few forumites have nicely said to me "STFU and stop being paranoid"! :killingme

If I had a long term relationship with my current OB and really loved her, I'd probably not even think about going elsewhere. Your OB has already delivered one baby for you and your trust is with him. You've been going to him for many years.

I'm fairly new to somd, I'm used to city living where everything you could ever need is right there. The hospitals were all equipped to handle high risk situations. So this is kind of new to me. I'm not too familiar with the hospitals around here at all so all I have to really go on is instinct and opinions of others.

I delivered all 3 of our children @ Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

My twins are 3 1/2 now! Congrats to both of you on your pregnancies!

I went to Annapolis OB/GYN but Women OB/GYN in Annapolis I give :yay::yay: to also.

Don't say that - they usually bring FOOD! Food you'll be too tired to cook!!! And that nice meal will keep you going more than the McD's will!!

I'll just tell 'em to bring some pizzas and some bagels - all will be great!

Ah - I'm guessing this is the NY family?!?! Can you have 'em bring a little extra?? Maybe sooner, rather than later? It's kinda sounding good right about NOW!!

Having any cravings yet??

My last child was born at Civista, which also is not equipped to deal with any neo-natal complications and will also fly out any infants born with issues.

I discovered that one plus of this situation is that you plan to deliver there, they will do everything they can to determine in advance if there are complications so that if they DO anticipate problems, you can deliver somewhere else that is better able to deal with it.

They did more/better screening then when I had my first two kids, who were delivered at one of the top birthing facilities in the state.

That's comforting, it is a big plus. I assume Calvert would probably do the same and monitor/screen like crazy if they had any concerns throughout the pregnancy. I'd just like to know that there is a good chance that my OB will be the one delivering the baby. Of course with my luck, she'll be on vacation when I go into labor. I guess that once you're in labor, you don't really care who the heck delivers the baby at that point anyway.

I would love to be a daddy one day.....:yay:

Awww, you will be. You just have to find the right lady first. I thought I was never going to be a Mom. I wasted years with someone who didn't want kids and I thought I was ok with that.

It took hubby & I both a LONG time to find one another. We both went through many years of stupidity first. We wish we would have met 10 years ago but that's life. Things sometimes happen when you least expect it. :huggy:

Well - really, the nurses do most of the work anyway!! But seriously, I'm sure you'll be great and will have a great delivery! (PS - If you don't believe me about anything else - epidurals are awesome! No woman should give birth without one!)

I will probably freak out closer to - when I find out which direction the little ones are and whether or not they'll have to cut me open!

I had an emergency c-section after being in labor for 12 hours. When lying on the operation table, I freaked out at the idea of cutting me open while being awake and that they had to put me to sleep to get the baby out ASAP. They didn't want to wake for the "drugs" do its' job to numb my lower half.

For the last 2 weeks, I've been craving soup every day. No matter how much of it I eat, I still want more the next day. I was over in your neck of the woods at Carrabbas Friday night, wanted their soup and salad. I've been eating a lot of fruit too. At least I'm not craving really bad food, like McDonalds. Are the cravings supposed to start this early? It's gonna be a long 9 months! My friend told me that when she was pregnant, she craved whatever she saw on tv. If I get like that, I'm not watching any tv!

What about you? What foods can't you live without?

Something else to freak out about. . . . . .

I REALLY REALLY REALLY do NOT want a c-section!! And I know the reality of that is slim.

No real cravings yet. Now, I've seen things and have had to have them - but nothing that I must have. Which is good, because it would probably be something horrible for my diabetes anyway! I went to the grocery store on Sunday - saw some kale that looked yummy and bought 3 bags of it! Haven't eated it yet though! I've actually been rather turned off by greasy foods - that's a good thing for me!!

I almost went to Carrabbas on Friday too! But then I got lazy and opted to stay home!

No doubt, I have every intention of getting that epidural. I'm no hero!

You may not need a c-section at all. I wasn't supposed to get c-section at all, but my baby decided to flipped over a night before his birthday because he didn't want to come out. We thought he was in right position for me to be able to deliver natural. I was complaining of back pain right under my shoulder blade during the labor and the nurse said "uh oh, I better go get the doctor". The doctor came out with the sonogram and checked to find out what's going on. It turned out the baby was breeched, he plugged his butt down and was trying not to get out. She kept asking me "How did that happened?" I shrugged my shoulders and said "I don't know, he must have done that while I was sleeping."

I will pray for you to have a natural and safe pregnancy and delivery. :huggy:

I don't know if the soup is an actual craving. Maybe it's just because growing up, I always had it when I was sick. Feeling sick every morning, maybe I just think of soup as comfort food from when I was a kid.

Same with Celie. My first two were great births. I never expected a c-section but got one anyway. Little booger flipped at the last minute. Then the placenta stopped her from flipping back.

She kept asking you how it happened? You must have been ready to hit her at that point. :)

My brother kept my mother in labor for a full day, yes 24 hrs. With me, I was ready to enter the world 4 hrs after my Mom got to the hospital. Hubby put his mother through hell in the delivery room, too. And he made her morning sickness last the full 9 months.

I pray that this baby takes after me.

She's pregnant with twins, so it's a little different trying to gete both babes to cooperate and once one is born, there is so much room freed up that you don't really know what 'Baby B' will do... I know lots of twin mom's who delivered 1 naturally then had to do a c-section to get the 2nd baby out!

I wish her a very easy labor as well!! :huggy:
