Patrick or Brunnel???

Bottom line...

...Brunnel has played horribly from the get go. He has not quit but he is done in the NFL.

He's made crippling rookie-esque turnovers.
His arm is done.
His accuracy is terrible.

Jacksonville let him go for a rookie...for more, many more reasons than money.

Eight games is more than enough time for him to have 'come around'. He won't because he can't; he's done.

This does not make him a bad person.

The worst of it is he is, even if you don't agree with me on the rest, certainly NOT the future of the team. Patrick is. Or he isn't. The team is learning nothing more than Brunnel can't get it done anymore.

Had all the close games been wins, I'd be making the case that you don't change a winner. Even then we'd be somewhere around 4-4 maybe 5-3 and we'd still know he has earned the 30th rating in the league.

Gibbs has made two mistakes he has yet to correct;

1. Fire the replay 'specialist'.
2. Play Ramsey.

The time has come for both.

Interesting comments tonight from Joe Bugel who was on with George Michael on the 6 pm news. George asked Bugel about Ramsey playing. Bugel said they need to see better things from Ramsey in practice...making plays, better plays and stop making mistakes. He said they'd also like to see Brunnel step it up a bit in practice. Sounds like Ramsey just isn't there yet. At least Brunnel doesn't make the dumb choices that Ramsey makes. I'd vote for a look at Hasselbeck. I also heard George say the other day that the word is that Ramsey is a bit afraid of Gibbs but he didn't elaborate.

Ramsey's mistakes in practice can't be any worse than Brunell's mistakes during a game. Brunell is not the future of the franchise, just a care taker (who isn't doing a good job at all).
58 yards passing against Detroit, but no int's (there's something to cheer about).

Brunnel has made PLENTY of dumb choices and missed more open recievers than can be tolerated.

If Ramsey doesn't get in the game soon he is done as a Redskin. You can't go through the pounding he absorbed last year for a team, earning everyones respect, playing through a bad system until you are too injured to play and then be set on the bench for a guy who passes for 58 yards.

Gibbs is doing something opposing defenses could not do; shattering the kids confidence. At this rate he'll be gone next year and we'll have NOTHING at QB.

You cannot take a kid who put up Ramseys numbers and sit him for the performance Brunnel is throwing out there. If Mark had started having some great or even good games even here and there then that's one thing but he's terrible. Gibbs himself is terrified to let him throw the ball. Against the Lions.

Gibbs is giving Brunnel, a vet, the nurturing support a youngster like Ramsey needs. Brunnel can take the benching and I suspect he'd privately be grateful. He knows he's stinking the place up. Ramsey, team mate or not, has got to be sitting there thinking, on some level, 'OK, this is acceptable to coach Gibbs but I'm not?'

Everyone is talking about how the Redskins 'identity' is running Portis and don't screw up in the passing game. Well, decent teams SHUT DOWN a one dimensional offense and Brunnel is no longer capable of making something happen when the run is stuffed.

Therefore, the season is DONE at this rate because Mark has shown, in 8 games NO SIGN of being able to pull a game out, therefore get Patrick in the game so we know, if nothing else, over the next 8 weeks, whether Patrick is the future or not.

We already know it is NOT Brunnel and if we keep playing him we WON'T know whether or not it is Pat Ramsey.
