Charles Co. Patrol Officers Apprehend Disorderly Male Trying to Get into Cars at Intersection

With over 120 years of experience, their team of lawyers and experienced legal support professionals work to help you in a time of legal need.
On November 6, at 8:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of Route 5 at Post Office Road in Waldorf, for the report of a possible carjacking in progress. Several witnesses called 9-1-1 and said a male was attempting to stop drivers at the intersection and take their car. When officers arrived, they observed the suspect standing in the middle of the intersection. The officers gave verbal commands, but the suspect refused to cooperate. Officers utilized an electronic control device and safely apprehended the suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of PCP. In accordance with Agency policy, the suspect, Joseph Leroy Duckett, 55, of Indian Head, was seen by medical personnel before being transported to the detention center and charged with disorderly conduct. On November 7, a district court commissioner released Duckett from the Charles County Detention Center on personal recognizance. Cpl. Wilson is investigating.

Love it, they dumped him on hospital staff so the 90lb nurses can restrain this guy while he is coming down from PCP. Then after they pick him up they quick run him through the system so they can send him home. Because this guy is obviously no danger to anyone and makes good enough choices to be trusted on his own.

they just don't have the space to hold everyone? not an excuse, just a reason why they cut loose the least offenders

I don't know why they cut them loose, that actually wasn't the most important part of my rant. I am more concerned about why they take dangerous often combative druggies and drop them at the hospital without even leaving police to supervise. This isn't PG county, our hospitals don't have dedicated security to stick in the ER/ICU. Nurses are already overrun, do they expect a sitter or tech to sit with them?
