That's not correct and Obama (or Congress) has nothing to do with it. The operation is under MWR and that is non-appropriated funds (NAF). NAFs are generated from NAF instrumentalities, such as proceeds from AAFEES and other resale operations, including their own. Perhaps their sales went down, so they had to make cuts somewhere.

I've been going to the landing for the past 7 years, since there has been about a 2 dollar increase on the buffet... Yet business hasn't slowed down, I would definitely say it has picked up... But all the sudden they can't afford to stay open or provide the few employees, that actually do have benefits, their benefits? Doesn't make much since.. Lil Eva's turned over to a liberty lounge for E-6 and below. From my understanding its just a place to hang out, play video games and watch movies... That's all besides the point, its supposed to be there for the sailors, its their galley... Now they have to eat at Mcdonalds????

When the base was realigned within NDW the services from MWR went down. There were changes all over the base. Each "cut" helped to turn patrons away. This in turn drives more cuts. I feel bad for the young enlisted guys who will be forced to eat off base at a higher cost

The marina has tripled thier rates in 4 years. The letter said the increase was to pay for new equipment. It went on to say slip holders would get prefered parking. They bragged about the new "comfort station" < read : bathrooms and showers> adjacent to the marina. They failed to point out it is for All Hands. There was no fuel docks this year or last, pump out staion was not working, and the launch ramp was torn up last fall, and wont be replaced this year. All that, and MWR says in writing, thier services and amenities are comparable to "off base marinas" and they charge only a few percent less than the marinas in Solomons. Give me a break! The only MWR good deal for sailors anymore is the theater and auto hobby shop. But hey, the golf course is NEVER on MWRs hit list!
