PCI Slot Problem

Anytime :yay:

Indeed, had a D420 stripped all the way down, replaced PCMCIA/CAC Reader and back together in about an hour.
OK, I have downloaded and reviewed the manuals for my computer. Gonna give fixing it a shot over the weekend (maybe it's just a loose connection). Otherwise I will order parts online and start replacing parts when they come in.

When the PC Card (that's the industry requested term) slot stopped working, the guy at SMARTCO installed an internal wireless modem. Man is this thing slow. The adapter card I have is a wireless G, bet when I open up the machine and look that the internal is a Wireless B. Gotta find an internal wireless G for it.

unless your transferring files between computers then wireless b is faster then your internet connection. and its not a wireless modem its a card. not being a smarta$$, just in case you search by terms. lastly c series are easy to work on. if u need help just ask.

All I know is that when I was using the PC Card wireless adapter thru the PCMCIA slot I was able to work faster than I can now. Web pages load much slower.

check your drivers and see if there is a bios update.
