Anybody know how doggo is doing? Hope he's still there. :frown:

After a week or two of good food, be sure to get some worm meds. Doggo prolly has a few of them in there, and that will thwart efforts to get some good old fashioned groceries in it.

whole milk cottage cheese, plain yogurt (not fatfree), or chicken (baked or steamed).
ok 1 its a dog i saved not a child, i don't think the dog would care how i make the chicken, heck it might be good to have some greases and fat right now. my grandmother used to give her dogs bacon grease in their food and they were licking their chops for hours.thanks though for the advice

You're absolutely right, the dog would love the chicken which ever way you cook it. However, I was trying to spare you the mess you might have to deal with if this dog eats greasy, fatty foods. It may shock his digestive system after having had little or no food for so long.

yep, you can go to southern states and get a decent dog wormer. they're pretty gentle and it's hard to overdose them on those, and they usually kill roundworms. if he had fleas in the summer he will need something for killing tapeworms (these kinds you can see evidence of in the poo or on the butt), but if he has hooks or whips (which you CAN'T see), you'll need some panacur (anthelecide - sp?) you can use the horse paste on dogs, but you only give a SMALL amount, according to their weight, and give it for 3 days in a row (it's ikky tasting), wait 2 weeks and do it again. That stuff is EXPENSIVE from the vet but it will kill all sort of wigglies in there.

BUT.....if you get him the monthly heart worm meds from the vet, this will take care of them all except hooks and whips. BTW heart worm meds can be given BI-monthly and still be efficient. A cardiologist told me that. It kills the difilaria, and that can be done every other month and still be safe since the difilaria lifestage is a month or six weeks. Save yourselves some $$ folks!!

Dogs can get pancreatitis from eating high fat stuff like chicken fat (to excess as in every day). They like RAW chicken just fine, and even the bones aren't a problem, because they don't splinter if they are raw.

Don't be bringing that dog until you've wormed her! :yikes: :barf: Have you taken her to a vet yet? Is she fixed? I think I feel a hefty vet bill coming on. :twitch:
