I have those. There are cichlids. I have a tank with just those. Corner Critters sells way cooler ones though. I have one that looks like a zebra.

Needless to say I came home, got online and got his king snake from a "reputable" breader for 30 bucks.

If it came breaded for 30 bucks, how much for one that is deep fried,too?

On a side note, is there any way to try to rescue a fish that is in distress? We bought several fish from Petco last weekend, and all but one seems to be making a good transition to our tank. I noticed when feeding the fish this morning, that one is having a hard time swimming. It wasn't dead yet, but I'd guess that it will be gone by the time that I get home this evening. It didn't appear to have any abrasions on it's body, or have any thing wrong with it's fins....it just wasn't moving in a nice and fluid manner. It looked like it was only moving on one side...sort of listing to the right....and in a downward motion.

Is there fish triage or anything that I can do to save this fish if it is still alive when I get home? I am not positive, but I think it is a Cyclid, about 4 inches long, and bright beautiful orange.

Figures that this would happen when Bob the Fish Guy is out of town.

I agree you need to get it out of the tank ASAP. Look for little white spots, almost like little tiny air bubbles. That would be Ick. Pet stores usually carry 2 meds for it, one is green, one is blue... I much prefer the blue. Make sure your water is well balanced and administer according to directions.
I don't have fish anymore. but used to have a live breeder tank and a ciclid tank. I have had very limited success treating anything else. But protect the rest of the tank.

I'm glad that I read this thread. I was going to purchase a pet for my son from there. I do have my small ####s ztu groomed there and have never had a problem.

Too late. The poor fish died.

I hate corner critters. I think the place is filthy and getting help was hard each and every time I walked in.
I buy fish at PetCo and they are still doing great. Just my opinion.

Petco doesn't smell, cause if you notice, they have air ducts to take the smell outside.

For food, I love the pet place on solomons, Clippers Canine Cafe!

I love Clippers!! I always get those gourmet cookies for my westie Jasper before I go home to visit...he loves to lick off the "icing" hehe

FYI, I happen to be really close with a store manager of one of the Petco's (I won't mention which). For those of you complaining about how they don't know about the animals they are selling, you are right for the most part. Most Petco stores have 2 animal specialists which work M-F during the day and are the ones who take care of and feed the pets. Them, along with the store managers are probably the best people to talk to for information. On weekends they have what are called 'animal techs' which take care of the pets, but are part time employees. It sucks that the more knowledgable employees aren't there when the majority of the customers come in. Petco does 75% of it's business in the evening.

Petco shells out tons of money to keep their animals (especially their birds) healthy as best they can, but their pets are only as good as their 3rd party suppliers. I've seen a $500 Vet bill for a $20 bird. Doesn't make any sense to me from a profit stand point...

I always buy feeder crickets from the Tackle Box - fairly inexpensive and always fat and active....my beardie loves them!!

Where's Tackle Box, my sons Tree Frogs go through crickets like crazy and they don't live very long even though I have water and cricket food for them..
