Physical Profiling?

I know that if they had weighed me at my highest weight I would have been offended and not wanted to fly again. I knew that I was fat, but didn't need to be reminded of it.

If they are going to get nit picky on stuff like that, then they better be prepared for some big people organizations throw a fit.

it's for safety of all passengers. planes must be balance properly. weighing is more important when you get on a puddle hopper.

Why are you worried? You don't need a plane!

All I am saying is that people don't need to get reminded that they are obese and need to lose weight. I can understand why they would do it on a puddlejumper but on a 737, or one of those big planes, that is stupid.

I am sure that those that might be offended could simply ask that they not be told how much they weigh.

"All I am saying is that people don't need to get reminded that they are obese and need to lose weight."

I'm not being sarcastic, but it would only help them....

How would it help them? Humilate them in front of other passengers.

I have a question for you, have you ever in your life ever been overweight?

Do you honestly think that they don't know that they are overweight? People really don't need to be reminded of that by complete strangers. They have to look in the mirror every day. You sure are an insensitive ass when it comes to the obese.

I'm not saying they should let everyone else stand there and say "oh my God, he/she ways XXX lbs..."..

Just that the reminder or maybe even the possibility of being embarrassed would give them more motivation to lose weight....

No, I have never been overweight.

Weight and balance are important on any plane, even 737's. What you do not see is the carts of baggage and cargo that goes on those things. I saw somewhere that the standard weight used to calculate weight and balance info is like 150lbs per person. I may be wrong but I think using a SWAG of 150lbs per person is wrong. Say the average weight of the per person is actually 190, 40lbs higher than the old standard. That means there is an error of 8,000lbs for a passenger load of 200 people or 4 TONS. this can throw the balance off, cause errors in take off speed, landing length, fuel burn rate and so on. I would much rather have to stand on a scale and let someone see how much I weigh and be embarassed than to have them scrubbing my DNA off the runway.

I hate when the nurse weighs me at the doctor's office. I'd really hate being weighed in front of a line full of people. I'd rather pull my pants down.

I thought they did something similar when Southwest was charging overweight people for two seats instead of one. confused: And then the going joke amongst my friends when someone big would walk bye was -- wow!!! There's a definate two seater. (Mind you that was my friends saying that not me.)

The weight could be fed into a flight data computer and no one would ever see their weight displayed or listen to a snickering person.

Ok then you have no idea how humilating it is for little kids to moo at you, and chair breaking, and people laughing and pointing at you. Going out to restarants and not being able to fit into booths, ordering a dessert and having the waiter comment that you don't need that. It didn't help me when I was obese like that in fact it made it worse having to face that stuff.

That doesn't help obese people lose weight it actually makes it worse because they start feeling worse about themselves and eat more to bury the pain of being humilated.

I am not pointing fingers at you and I apologize if it sounds like that, but I know for a fact that having to face the number on the scale and not running from it is the hardest thing in life to do.

I do have to admit now that my rear actually fits in the seats better I do dread sitting next to someone that overlaps the seats, and when I do see someone who is signicantly overweight I think why can't they lose the weight I did, but it is their decision to do it no one elses.
