Plaza Tolteca

Sold! I know what an authenticity snob you are, so I will take your recommendation to heart. :yay: Let's do a Friday night there!

I have never had authentic Mexican, wouldn't know it if it bit me. All I know is this was tasty, filling and a good experience.

But you know what good food is and aren't a person who thinks Applebee's is the height of culinary achievement, even when they do slop a slice of cheese on their overcooked chicken breast and sprinkle it with dried parsley. So I am inclined to pay attention to your recommendations.

I am so very blessed
I went to lunch there on Thursday. It took us forever to get our drink orders taken, forever to get our meal orders taken, and flippin' forever to get our meals delivered. Some people at our table finally received our meals as the first people were just completing their meals.

The food was adequate. Yep, just adequate....nothing remarkable, nothing notable, nothing beyond average.

Service was friendly but very slow.

I won't be going back.

we went last week for dinner, ended up being a late dinner, we got there around 830pm

Awesome service, quick & friendly, food was good & a lot of it. I got tacos & there wasn't a whole pool of grease like I get at Monterey. Actually there was no grease!

We had a great experience & I'll definitely be going back.

Just came back from dinner there. It was .... ok.

And by OK, I mean this is my new favorite Mexican place. The food was very good, actually had flavor! I could have made a meal out of appetizers.

Very attentive staff, and not just your own waiter. Everyone that walked by made sure you were taken care of.

Renovation inside is very nice. I did feel a little rushed. Not that they were rushing anyone, just felt like I needed to hurry for some reason.

We went last night and I agree with everything here...except the rushed part. Did not feel at all rushed.
Good (enough) food, adequate service and very nicely done inside.
Checking out was less than idea as the young lady (only white person I saw working there) had to seat new customers and take payments from those who were leaving...and she was really bad at taking payments. The guy in front of me paid with cash and when she gave him his chage I know he got at least 20 pennies and when she gave it to him she said something like...I think that's right. :killingme Dude shook his head and walked away. When I handed her my card she asked "credit", I said "debit" she said "same thing"! Well then, why the F did you ask? :otter:

Girl and I ate there today. Nicely done inside, and it was packed! Food was good, service was pretty good with the exception of getting our bill so we could leave. When I finally got it and was paying, I did make the suggestion that the check should come with the to-go box since it evident that we were done with our meals.

When I was there, the girl kept walking past, looking at my unfinished plate, assuming I wouldn't finish it, and was always surprised when I said no, not done yet. I guess they fully expect everyone to ask for a box.

I was hungry! Look on her face was priceless when there was nothing left.

But I did ask for a desert to go, and asked for the check at the same time, so that worked.

We got in when they opened at 11:30..."J" said the festivities would fire up later in the afternoon. HUGE fajitas for 2 (feeds all three of us with some to take home!).

Line started to form when we were leaving. Like the place....

White people are so overrated!

I went on Saturday and the food was super yummy.

Service was fast too... Maybe they heard everyone thought they were slow so they stepped up their game.

I'll go back.

They're out to get us
I went recently...the food was similar to Monterrey and the service was far slower. I'm not sure what the fuss is about with the food being so much better. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great

Had lunch there yesterday. The food was better than Monteray, the service was friendly, prices were good, but the food did take a long time to come out. Don't go there for a workday lunch time and expect to run in and out. As mentioned, the front counter is a bit of a cluster-f as one person takes care of checks and assigns wait staff to seat people.

Overall, it was nice and I'll go back. For a new business, they seem to have most of their issues ironed out, and hopefully it continues to get better.

I'm still going with GWGuy saying it wasn't horrible. Will give it a try based on his rave review!
