PLEASE HELP > INFO. NEEDED> CYBER BULLYING

CYBER BULLYING if anyone has any information on or knows who uses the following “User” names please Email me. There are CHAT Rooms and IM Sites that our High School Children are using, and these people are Threatening Students and saying Degrading things. I was Shocked to read some of the things these people were saying, and am Fearful for the Safety of our Children. This is all happening right in our own “Back-Yard”, and we need to identify these culprits and put a STOP to it, before their THREATS turn to Violence. The victims need our help identifying these individuals.

#1, parents should monitor their kids' internet access so they don't start wandering into places where they shouldn't be.

#2, these people could be anyone, anywhere. Could be some 15 year old kid in Guatemala, could be a 80 year old man in a federal prison. Could be anyone and the chances that anyone on here knows them are pretty slender.

#3, even if you do identify the person behind the screen name, nothing will happen. Police won't prosecute, FBI won't investigate - nothing. Talking smack isn't a crime.

Let's all use some common sense on the internet, please, and remember that they call it the "world wide web" for a reason.

I caught the events that were taken place. Many kids are in a single parent home. Where the parents are working, latch key kids. Do you really think many of these victims tell anyone?

Not true, if you threaten to do bodily harm it's a crime.
This story is from Louisiana, I'm not sure how much of it pertains to MD.

The cyber harraser received 5 years probation, 500 hours of community service, and had to pay $12,297 in restitution.

Apparently it's illegal to use a telecommuniation device(including the internet) with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass.

The internet is truly a dangerous place. If your child has been lucky enough not to have these threats bleed over into his/her school life you are lucky.

The responsibility for your child's safety falls on you.

1.) Forbid use of the site.

2.) If there have been any Columbine style threats, immediately notify the school.

3.) Depending on the content of the threats, notify the Police.

4.) Use your head! Out of sight - Out of mind.

What makes you think that anyone who replies to your request is going to be credible?

If I were a stalker, perv, cyberbully, etc. I'd hang out at "kid safe" places too pretending to be a 12 yr. old. If your kids gave out personal info to strangers, you obviously didn't monitor them so well, so turn off the internet. They can always go to one of their latchkey friends houses and turn it on again. It's your job to teach them common sense at home and away from home.
