If he's getting threatening IMs, that's simple - just remove that user name from your list and voila! No more threatening IMs.
If the kid is being stalked and threatened on a website (forum, chatroom, whatever) notify the moderator of that site. They can give you the ISP of the stalker, then you can notify the ISP and they can track down the user. Keeping in mind, of course, that no self-respecting moderator or ISP will release personal information without a good reason or a court order. So don't go to them with a "this person called me a name" - it must be a legitimate threat.
If the kid is being threatened via email, that's the easiest of all to take care of because you have an email address, IP address and anything else you need to track them down. And if you can't stop the problem that way, simply get a new email address AND DON'T POST IT ON THE INTERNET WHERE BAD PEOPLE CAN GET IT.
This stuff is relatively simple to take care of.
What's the problem?
This is why you are who you are!!! Why didn't anyone else think of that?? 
They probably did. It's just that this stuff is such common knowledge that it's like explaining to someone that you should cut a steak with a knife, not a spoon - it doesn't occur to people that an adult might not know that.Mikeinsmd said:
