Ooh, I would love to let Sofia play with my hair! Another great reason to get a monkey! :diva:
She just graduated from the Graham Webb International Academy of Hair, so she'll do a great job! You just have to supply your own bows.

What he did walk away with is the sergeant did report the call and said that if anything did happen and my dad had to defend himself, it's on record that he received this call.
Well, whoopdefriggindo. Fat lot of good that's gonna do you if some freak shows up in the middle of the night.

You know, after that gal was killed by her stalker ex-husband in Waldorf, you'd think the cops would take stuff like this a little more seriously. Why don't they? I know they get a lot of bogus calls and crap like that, but BFD - that's their job. And it would literally take them 10 minutes to get the caller information from the phone company.

Well, good luck to you, TJ. I'm sorry I was mean :flowers:

Thanks, no biggy.

I don't understand why they can't help us out. I know that they definitely get these all the time, but I would think it would fall into that whole "better safe than sorry".

We'll see how things go today, i passed along all of the advice to my dad, and if this guy calls back today, they are ready, but I think the guy has said all he is going to say, unless this is some psychological prank.

Thanks again everybody :howdy:

Which brings up another point:

Apparently threatening someone with death isn't against the law. Why not?

I think civilized people can go about their business without threatening to kill others. So why wouldn't it simply be against the law to make a death threat? Why would the threatener actually have to DO something in order to be punished?

It should be covered under the "Stalking" statute § 3-802 of the Criminal Code in Maryland. It might also violate Federal Statute as it was done over the telephone and as I understand it across state lines.

Isn't threatening to hurt someone assault? And actually doing it battery? That's my understanding. I'd think threatening to kill someone would fall under assault.

I'm not sure if you'd have to prove it with witnesses, though. And actually know who was doing the threatening (although the police or phone company could find out if they really wanted to).

Well apparently it doesn't violate anything because the cops don't appear to want to pursue it and find the culprit. What the hell good is having a law if the cops won't go after someone who breaks it? Yet just try not wearing your seatbelt and see how fast they pull you over.

That is just nuts.

I bet if it was a cop that got the phone call they would be on it quicker then JPC can say excessive growth, but as it was just a citizen they will try to blow it off as there being nothing they can do. A lot of laws aren't enforced and I guess this might just be another one of them.

TJ, you're full of #### and the rest of you are a bunch of suckers.

If someone called and threatened your life, what would you do:

A: Call the police
B: Post on a forum to let a bunch of strangers know

If you chose B, then you are in need of psychiatric care.
I already had ya covered. PLease pay better attention. TIA!! :flowers:

Don't forget to inform the police that since you will be handling the threat without their assistance, you have full intention of annihilating said threat if it appears on your doorstep. That normally gets their attention.
Please Help!!!!!! 06-13-2006 02:01 PM great way to get yourself arrested for premeditated murder instead of manslaughter you brainiac

Incorrect. The above was done by my father. The police said it would be self defense and make sure you drag the victim over the doorstep. They also showed up to see if the complaint was real or if my dad was nuts. Luckily they arrived a few minutes after the man who made the threat and apprehended him as he was trying to break down the door. This was quite some years ago. The man was charged with attempted murder. My father, who had a loaded weapon in his hand when they got there, was not charged with anything, nor was there any mention of wrongdoing.
