As far as I know there is only one encrypted channel and that is for the Sheriff Narcotics division. The rest can be programmed in.

All I know is when the county decided in about 04 to change the frequencies on which they operate the 911 center it was in an effort to keep the public from hearing certain calls. You guys are brutal. It is just a forum. I am not trying to take your scanners away from you.

If the powers to be didn't want anyone to hear what was being broadcast they would encrypt it. The communications change wasn't about limiting public monitoring, it was about updating out of date equipment and old technology with a system that has more capabilities.

Unless a channel is encrypted, anyone can listen in on it with a little programming.
