Potty Training is

NOT working...it's been over a year of pull-ups and I've tried every reward system recommended. His teachers are not at all saying anything negative but also saying they cannot figure out his "hot button" to make him want to go on the potty. He sits, and sits, and sits... but nothing :cds:


SO, I've ordered a dozen or so "training" pants which from what I'm understanding are plastic pants with cloth outside??? So when he "goes" in his pants he'll now feel it on his skin and not supposed to allow it to leak to his pants?? Anyone have any knowledge or idea on these type of pants? Teachers are telling me to send at least 3 pairs of pants, socks, and shoes each day to start.. and now I'm thinking HOLY CRAP (literally)

Training pants are cloth inside with "plastic" on the outside. They now come combined, but you can also buy the training undies and the plastic pants separately

It's a control thing. When mine decided they were going to start they did and not a second sooner. They could not be bribed.

He's still young yet, isn't he? For some it works at home to have them naked, but it's a pain in the ass

Okay, so maybe I'm confused b/c here is the description

I put my girl in regular underwear when we started potty training. When she had an "accident" I made her sit in it for 5 minutes. After a week, bye-bye diapers.

I was talking about these (but not waterproof) They look like these but are esentially thicker underwear

He's 2, 3 in May. They start at 18 months sitting on the potty. Most of the others in his class are in regular underpants

Pull-ups are diapers.
As long as my son was wearing diapers he crapped his pants. Once we put him in regular underwear he started using the john.

Wait till spring when puddles occur outside

True. It's hard not to make a big deal out of it, but if you do - make a bigger deal when they are "successful", and no big deal (at all) when they aren't.

Oddly enough, my oldest, who was "developmentally delayed" potty trained earlier than the youngest. He was just about the same age as yours, though, and the youngest was more like 3. (only a few months difference)

I thought when mine were little, I was being told 3 was not too young for boys. I remember my MIL making a big deal out of it, and taking great pride in telling me her boys were all potty trained by 18 months. That's because she spanked them & put them in a corner if they wet their pants. :rolleyes:

Anyhoo, I do know that once mine were dry in the day, they were also dry during the night.

He's actually saying he won't go on the potty. Just in passing I can say to him "hey Chase, how about you tell mommy or daddy when you have to go" and he says "no, I don't want to". I think it's being lazy at this point

I'm the same way and I am way older than Chase, if that makes you feel any better.

Bribe him. "No, I'm sorry. Only big boys get to have cake. Babies who poop and pee in their diaper are too little for cake. May I interest you in some mashed banana?"

Then eat the cake in front of him.

Put regular boys underwear on him, and forget the other pricey things. If he pees in them, make him clean up the mess, and have him take his own clothes to the washer, and make him take a bath every time he soils his pants. No tub toys, just plain bathing period. If he is talking well, he should understand what you want him to do. Let him pick out the new undies too, saying that BIG boys wear these, and babies wear diapers. Ask him if Daddy wears a diaper, when he says "no", you know that he has the concept. Once the diapers are off, no matter what...they're off, and no turning back. He is still young, so don't think there is anything wrong with him.

If it were me at home that would be fine, but I work FT and he's at school so I have to fine something with all parties on board
