Potty Training Secrets

Just be patient as it can be very frustrating for you both. For mine it was the anticipation of pre-school that finally got him trained. He still had accidents from time to time but we got rid of the diapers and pull-ups for good. And remember, just because they're dry during the day doesn't mean they'll make it through the night. Make sure you restrict fluids after dinner and that he goes right before bedtime. Also, a waterproof pad on the bed means you won't have to dry out or burn his mattress!

I had boys and tried the potty training as soon as they turned 2. No luck, they would wait until nap time when I put the diapers back on and did everything in the diaper. Same thing happened at night. So, I stopped trying for a few weeks, used up all the diapers and completely switched to big boy underwear. Guess what? They had to stop playing long enough to go to the bathroom! They didn't like the inconvenience of taking the time out to go, but that was the only issue. I worried about accidents at night, but they never had any. If they have the muscle control to hold it, they are ready, just don't have any diapers around.
