We went w/o from ~730 Saturday, until ~730-800 last night. My generator imploded, so no power meant NO power. My buddy had power yesterday, so he let me borrow his generator. When I finally got it set up and running, I went inside and plugged in the fridge.
That was ~730-800.
Thanks to the crews working so hard to get us up and running! We didn't expect power until Friday.

My parents live in a very old area of Waldorf. They are almost always the last to get power back, even when they can see lights on at houses nearby. Most of the time when their power goes out, it affects only 3 houses and one of those is currently unoccupied. The tree that took out their power this time fell into the yard of the unoccupied house. My dad decided to go out Monday and start the process of cutting it up in order to make things easier when SMECO got around to them. SMECO inspectors drove passed several times and waved as they kept going. The fact is, they need to deal with those areas where the most people are affected. My parents accept that is one of the prices they pay in exchange for the benefits of where they live.So far we've had ZERO power in Leonardtown, by the Middle School, on Medleys Neck Road since 7:30pm Saturday night. Smeco keeps giving the same 'we'll get to it as soon as we can'. Our neighbors across the street from us, three doors up Medley's Neck Road from us and behind us in Hanover Farms all have power. It is just the three houses before you go into Breton Bay Farms and most likely the Farms, have ZERO power. Seems since we are on an 'old' feeder line, we are always last to get fixed. I've heard that crap over a dozen times over the years with nothing done about it. Thank GOD I bought a little generator years ago. It seems like they just forgot about us. I'm so pissed at SMECO right now, I can't even think about the 100 ft hardwood trees down in my back yard. Heard it was a tornado that went through. The twisted tree pics I took sure make it seem like it. Totally unbelievable Smeco takes so long for the price they charge for power

Hmmmmmm, I went to Ridge on RT 5 about the time you posted this and did not see any of them, but maybe they were just a bit behind me. Came back to the base using 235 and no crews there either.
Lots of them out by my hood in Callaway though.

I'm just wondering if there is some type of "grid pattern" they are using to restore power. I now that the sub stations are first. After that, I have no clue. I think I mentioned somewhere this morning that around 6:30 this morning, there was a street light on, one street up from us, but we on the back street were still in the dark.

From what I was told by a friend who works for SMECO, they repair all the 3 wire lines first, 2 wire second and single wire last. Now not being a lineman for SMECO I assume that translates to major 3 line feeds along the grid, 2 line feeds into neighborhoods and lastly single lines to individual house/houses..

Well, nothing in the neighborhood is down. So, I'm guessing there are still 3-liner's or two-liner's down. Ah well, it's been a hopeful trip home after work; doused with the cold bucket of water that is reality. :shrug:
Maybe today though.....:fingerscrossed:
Just couldn't figure out why the street light one street away was on this morning. Maybe we just need to unplug the generator and turn the mains back on to check. IDK.....
