Power Washing

If it's not high enough to kill the plants/grass, it's not high enough to do any good on the siding. Better to be safe than sorry and use the environmentally friendly house wash formulas you can buy at the store.
That is a true statement. However, bleach alone should not be used alone to wash a house/gutters/roofs/decks/concrete.

Is the secret to use ground up SPAM in with the plant friendly house wash you can buy at lowes when you buy your own pressure washer so you can do your own house instead of paying some company that is too cheap to buy an ad and has to resort to spaming the forums for customers?

:roflmao:

On a more serious note - I always use a mixture of about 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water with a cap full of laundry detergent in a pump sprayer to clean my siding. I did it with vinyl and aluminum with no issues for years. I never went stronger than 50/50

The laundry detergent makes the concoction stick to the siding, the bleach kills the mold and loosens the dirt. :yay: I use a garden hose to rinse it off...

Now, in 17 years of owning a home I have never had to use the power washer to remove the yuck, only to reach out further than the garden hose could, plus it saves on the water use to rinse.

I have never damaged plants or my grass in doing this.

Doing it your way does work. Strong enough bleach solution on the house to kill the mold. The rinse with the garden hose/pressure washer with clean water further dilutes the bleach, thereby preventing it from killing the plants on the ground.

It's called "reply w/ quote". Once it comes up, you can edit to your heart's content.

I have a very full life outside of the forums.

I also do not advertise on here without buying an ad. Otherwise I'd be stealing from the owners of the forums like you, which wouldn't be nice. And don't deny that that's what you were doing. Anybody with any common sense can tell that that is what you were doing.

I did read your posts. Yes, you did give advice. Although I would actually call what you did thinly disguised trolling for business without coming right out and say "Hire me to clean your gutters or power wash your house!".

I agree with you Hunter. He is advertising himself for free at the forums expense. Gutterdogs (or whatever) if your gona give advice please make sure you do it carefully and with forethought. NO you should not wash your whole house with bleach. If you do you may end up owing people money once you ruin the screens. I accidently put just a little bleach with soap while washing my siding and it got all over the windows so I went ahead and washed them. Certain types of screen are ruined once bleach hits them. Just wanted to help ya Gutterdog.

When you rinsed the window while the screen was in it what tip did you have on the gun? High pressure cuts the screens not bleach.

Bleach is added to the house wash mix to kill the mold. once it is dead (dissapears or turns white) It rinses very easy. No need for high pressure. Very important to dwell the mix first or you will have to do it again. DO NOT let it dry on glass or it will etch it.

I use the pressure washer to get the high places and also to knock out the bugs from under the shutters. Not everyone has mold on their siding so bleach is not always needed. I happened to use it because a bird made a deposit as he was flying by. I grabbed my car brush with some soap and small amount of bleach to wash off the bird poop. As for the window's etching....I have never seen that happen. But I did read the warrenty and the manufactorers website that states DO NOT USE CLOROX ON SCREENS. I was also told to take down the screens before you wash the outside of your house. No I didn't have the nozzle wrong or even close to the screen so that didn't cause it. I am just repeating what the manufacteror's told me. I'm gona leave this boring thread and read about poor Larry's penis problems

Best of luck to Larry. Bleach is a killer and thats it? It doesnt do anything to screens? The pressure is what done it, sorry. I went to the clorox website looking for what you said. Havent found it yet, and I dont think I will but ill look some more. Here is something to check out!

Bleach: What People are Saying

ALL molds reproduce by making "spores." Mold spores are microscopic and only become visible when individual spores accumulate. According to the United States EPA, these microscopic particles continuously move through indoor and outdoor air. When mold spores find moisture indoors, they may "begin growing and digesting whatever they are growing on in order to survive." Molds gradually destroy whatever they are growing on.

I could care less what people say about clorox. Yes I know all about it and I never said it was bad-but I did say it was bad for window screens. Why are you looking up clorox? I said, "I did read the warrenty and the manufactorers website that states DO NOT USE CLOROX ON SCREENS." Clorox's website would NOT list all the things you should not use it on. BUT the window manufacter's usually tell you what to use and what not to use. It's cold and rainy and I'm sure your bored.....but you didn't take my hint.....thank you for your opinion but YOUR WRONG. I only suggested you be careful when giving out your expert adviced.
