I hope his speech is worth something. I don't want to hear him talk for a half hour on the upcoming elections.

That wasn't too bad. Straightforward and not too much "campaigning" for the party. I like that they are moving away from "Stay the Course". I never liked that saying.

"Stay the course"? Certainly you are mistaken.

Sunday, Dubya said that his Iraq policy "has never been stay the course". So...all those times he (and the other Righties) said it...he wasn't actually saying it....see? It never happened.

If "stay the course" is no longer the official mantra...what is the new one?

"Not changing direction"?

I guess you weren't listening when they said that they are not going to use that phrase. They were using it, and believed in it, but said they are getting rid of it because it does not adaquately define what needs to go on over there. So your wrong, when he was saying it he actually was saying it.

Oh...gotcha. I was listening to what they were saying about that. Just didn't buy it, is all.

So...it's the phrase that's been wrong...not the plan? Great! Things ought to go much more smoothly from now on. Baghdad will have it's own Statue of Liberty by June or so.

But really...what is their new catch phrase? "Adapt and win"? Something like that? I guess I'll figure it out from the Republican quotes.

Now that they're changing their slogans to adequately define policies and positions, I figure that means they'll stop repeating the "cut and run" from thier campaign speeches, too. Right?

I retract my earlier statement. You do listen, selectively. I have a buch of friend who are democrats, but only one is a member of the same group you are. The people who only hear what they want to hear. Bush could have come on tv and said the the war in Iraq was won, the insurgency is no more, and our troops are coming home, but you wouldn't hear that. You would only hear the one little thing that you could go running to whoever will listen or not to scream, Bush lied, Bush lied!!

Anybody from either party can be accused of selective listening...so that really doesn't bother me. I do know BS when I hear it...and I hear it alot from this administration. From Dubya saying "stay the course" has never been his policy...to Tony Snow first denying Bush ever said it...to saying, after research, they only found 8 instances of it. Uh-huh.

As far as "Bush lied"...that's pretty much a crap accusation when it comes to me, specifically. When I have accused Bush of lying, I have provided the actual evidence...right here for you all to see. If I say he lied, I have the proof.

Let me get this straight... Bush had a plan "Stay the course". That plan changed by adapting to the situation called "Adapt and win" (so you called it). You folks on the left don't have a plan. And your complaint is what?

I don't know if "Adapt to Win" is the new slogan. I was taking a guess...though "Until the Job is Done" seems to be gaining ground.

Not to get all "repeaty"..as this has been discussed at length in other threads....

But...

The problem is that Dubya did not have a plan...which is why we find ourselves where we are.

Throw out all the debate about why we went to war. I am not shy about my opinions on the subject. but that does not matter now. Now what matters is how do we get to the point where American troops can come home, and we can still claim at least partial "success".

Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld has done America...and Iraq...a disservice by just adamantly sticking to the original "plan"....just assuming things would work out.

Didn't happen.

Democrats have a plan...the Biden plan is one option, that will probably be the plan that we have to resort to when all is said and done.

Keep in mind. Iraq is Dubya's mess. Republicans should stop asking what Dems want to do about it...and ask the man responsible what he intends to do about it.

How do you know this, can you cite something reliable?

Partial success doesn't cut it, until Iraq is stabilized, we stay. "Partial" success means a victory to the terrorists. They will still do everything in their power to attack us here and abroad.

And what was the original plan and how have they adamantly stuck to it?? Tell me how you know this, please.

Iraq is OUR mess, we are there by, uh, what was the vote?? If you didn't realize what war entailed, you should have been hounding the hell out of your folks in congress. Riddle me this, Batman, what war has ever gone according to plan?? I have never been in the military, but I know that EVERY plan has never worked out as expected. Politics, negative politics have got in the way of decimating Iraq and sending a message to the Islamic world that we will have none of their games. One attack (9/11) by the terrorists killed more than we have lost over there. When you have people so hypnotized by their handlers(islamists, not democrats), backing down is a victory to them. Frankly, your asking that Republicans stop asking for the Dems plan makes me laff, all I ever heard from Kerry when he ran was "We have a plan"..but I never heard his plan. Biden's wish plan for a withdrawal will only imprint moreso in the terrorists' minds that when the going gets tough, they will back down.

Now this is almost funny.

"Bidens plan for withdrawl"??? EVERYBODY wants withdrawl. Who wants our troops there forever?!?!?!

Biden's plan is the partial division of Iraq for the 3 seperate sects, with a centeral govenrment overseeing country security, and division of oil revenues. We're going to hear alot more about it as Republicans try and call this plan their own, after the elections. But that;s another matter.

Bush had no plan. Whose idea was it that "Well...let's take the Iraq army we have just defeated...and disband it..allowing them to run off all pissed off with the keys to their armouries??? Hell...in WW II it was recognized that the German Army (not the Nazi party SS'ers, mind you...) were just fine with being "German" and not "Nazi". Why did this not happen in Iraq?

Lastly...don't throw that Iraq War Resolution in my face. We all know the "facts" presented to secure that vote was pure BS. "Facts" cherry picked to support the Neocons desire to go to war, while conveniently ommitting information (often times from the very same reports) which contradicted what they were telling us on TV. "Mushroom clouds"..."45 minutes from launch"..."ties to Al-Quida" and other BS scare tactics (which have been proven false) the Bushies rely on to hold power.

Yeah...I hold those responsible for gettting us in this mess to get us out of it.

Why don't you?

?

You mnean the SAME reports that EVERYONE had at their disposal to read prior to voting? You saying the democrats shirked their responsibility by not reading what they were voting on?? The Republicans didn't have a lock on all the intelligence, the democrats had access to all the same reports, they read them and came away with the same conclusions and VOTED for the war.. or are you implying our democrat senators and congressman maybe illiterate and have to depend on someone elses interpretation prior to voting??

But have to say.. the Bear and Bush video is pretty damn funny.
