Previous phone # owner

When we moved here, we kept getting calls for Frank and Diane, the owners of our number before us. It really became annoying after a while.

One day I called home with my best, deep voiced southern accent imitation and asked for "Frank or Diane, please". Wife kind of went off on me "THERE IS NO FRANK OR DIANE HERE" :lmao:

Got her.

We got a landline in December. We keep getting calls for the previous people who had this number. Apparently they're having trouble with their mortgage. :lmao: Anyhoo, I noticed a $15 dollar charge on my phone bill that said "Voicemail Mo Fee" or something. I called to see what it was, and the lady signed up for this voicemail service in APRIL!!!! Meaning, she signed up for this service with OUR number after not having that number for the past 4 months!!! What a freaking idiot.

The weird thing is that BF is friends with her son. :lmao: We're gonna have to call and set her straight.

I don't know, doesn't that mean she can actually call a number and get voicemail through a service that you had paid for her?

That's what I said to BF!! We have the regular Verizon voicemail for the home #, but if she paid for a special voicemail, what does that mean?! Do the messages get sent to both voicemails? If not, hasn't she realized that she signed up for a service a month and a half ago and can't use it? :lmao:

But how is she getting the service for her current # if she signed up with OUR number?

I find it hard to believe nobody plays with repeat wrong numbers.
Call me once and it's a mistake. The second time I'm a cop, your friend just got arrested for kiddie porn and I need your contact info because I'm coming to arrest you.

I got a winner! the persons who had my number before me were on probation and there probation office was calling 6 times a day. That was fun to get cleared up.

I got you all beat...we've had this number for 6 years and still get collection calls for the prior number holder. We also get calls from a casino in Atlantic City. Apparently this guy was a regular customer.

7 years here! I can't believe anyone is still issuing credit to the folks who used to have my number. And they bounce checks at the most asinine places. I even had to call some 3rd party messaging service that had billed my number. They removed the charge n/p and I had Verizon put a block on all 3rd party billing to my number.

Happened to me (see my other post). And that was YEARS after I got the number.

Good luck getting the bill collectors to stop calling. Bill collectors will call whatever number they think they can reach the person. I paid my BIL's bill one month and then had to deal with the bill collector calling me trying to get approval to recharge my debit card for other payments he had missed. Hubby had bill collectors calling his cell phone and Sprint refused to credit our account the calls (sometimes 5 a day). Ended up getting another number and requested that it be a new number not a recycled one.

That's a great idea! I should try that one on my hubby. He would really get angry because I took care of this with a manager over there and the calls had stopped. :killingme

"A little ditty about Frank and Diane. Two American kids growin' up in the hearland..."

That would be why he was also getting collection calls. :nomoney:
