Wrong answer momma. Large breed foods are made to keep a large breed puppy from growing too fast.

And CC, NutroMax is a great food and available at Petsmart.
Sorry Pix have to agree with Catt and others on this, the easiest way to check out the quality of your food is look at the first 5 ingredients on the bag, or the site you listed. Nutro max natural is a lot better than grocery store brand and Iams but, the first five ingredients are not human grade chicken, lamb or fish. It is chicken meal, which can be guts scraped up from the floor. Rice and brans were next, which seems to be right up there with a lot of fillers. Now nutro max does have a dog food out that is called "ultra" and that is a very good food along with garlic, cranberry and glucosamines. It is very good and recommend by the whole dog food journal as well as the foods Catt mentioned. Right now the cheapest "good" food seems to be Chicken soup. Just had to add my 2 cents....

She was arguing that a Large Breed Puppy food was formulated as to make them grow too fast. They are not; the opposite is true.

I'm not arguing that Catt's choices of food aren't good. I was giving CC an option that was readily available to her. Nutro Brand foods are the best available at your local Petsmart. Iams is the best you'll get at a grocery store.

BARFing (Bones and Raw Food) is by far the healthiest diet you can provide for your pup. Unfortunatelly, it's not all that practical for most people. I feed dog food and supliment with occasional raw meat and raw meat on the bone, hard boiled eggs, occasional fresh fruit or veggies.

Nutro has

Beep Pulp - crap
Corn gluten - crap

Large Breed Puppy food is NOT formulated for certain breeds. Boxers, which are larger than 50 pounds are NOT to be be fed large breed puppy food and are NOT considered large breed dogs. Interesting, most vets have no clue what to feed a dog and will recommend what foods the reps are hawking at the time. Science diet is a big food that vets recommend and it is sh!t.

Pix, there was no reason for Mily to be on large breed food. And yes, it does make them grow too fast and gain too much weight. You will notice that the GOOD foods don't have large breed puppy food. It's a sales gimmick.

I'll admit I don't know much about most stuff, but I know dogs and I know dog food.

Woah...woah...woah Missy Crabby and Missy Catty... I take offense to you both taking offense to Kizzy taking offense to someone taking offense of Catt's expertise...:tantrum

Give Kizzy credit where credit is due... she called the shots as she saw them. I respect her for that.

Ain't that the dang truth! I just went into the bathroom and asked a coworker if she could see any lip marks on my butt. :jet:
Steering clear of him would help with that problem. :huggy:

DW wearing lipstick and bitting your butt

I wasn’t kissing your butt. Seriously, I read the advice you give others in regards to their pets and it is always insightful and knowledgeable. It is clear that you love your animals and that each and every one of them is in a loving home.

Most people like that love their pets so much that they smell and even taste what they feed their animals.

I'm confused too. I'm not sure if I could tell if someone was bitting my butt. What exactly is that?

You and I are going to have to agree to disagree on this one. EVERYTHING I have ever read or heard is contrary to what you claim. The vet that I use to work for introduced me to BARFing. He was very well versed in nutrition.

I never claimed Nutro was the best out there period, only that it was the best "easily" available.

Moo got some raw chicken last night on top of her Nutro.

Ladies ... Ladies ... Ladies ... I thank you all for the info provided. I'll call the vet and mention the products ya'll suggested and see what she says. :yay:

Thanks again! :peace:

I'm not sure which one you feed, if you do, but the regular adult has it's first ingredient as corn something and a host of other crummy things.
