I originally wanted a chocolate lab, but fell in love with my red leopard catahoula instead, and he keeps me on my toes. I couldn't imagine even one more puppy, much less all those wiggly cuties.

There is a reason I am as skinny as I am.. :killingme

What is a red leopard catahoula (picture please)

This is bad. I can just imagine holding one of those wiggly little rolly polly bodies and smelling the stinky little puppy breath when they lick your face with no warning. :bawl:
Let me go read that puppy potty training thread again. It's the only way to stop the urge.

Stinky puppy breath? That is the best smell in the world ..okay ..second only to Mennen Baby Magic.

Mind you, this pic is from when he was 9 weeks old, he's 5 months old now, all legs and much taller. His coloring is referred to as red leopard, his specific breed is Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog.

If I wasnt expecting a baby in the next few weeks I would have to talk my hubby into it, but even I don't think I want a newborn and a puppy lol. So I'll wait another year or so before I fill my need for a puppy.

Oh my goodness, I can see how you fell in Love with him. He is so adorable, I love his markings.

I feel in love with a great dane once, instead of my choc lab and my other half said he was not having something in the house that could look him in the eye. :lmao:

Oh I got one too- about how it was backyard breeding and I should be careful because of the health of the puppies. UH YEAH! Of course, it was unsigned.

Wait Wait, here it is exactly:

"can yo say back yard bred? can you say HEALTH issues and over population?????"

Well, whoever it was that gave the karma has a very good point.

I just skimmed thru this thread, but where did the thought come from that this person is a backyard breeder? This could have been an accidental litter? Right?

I have no clue and I wasn't the bad karma giver.

Oh ok, I didn’t either.

CMC, I would say it doesn’t matter. If I was looking for a puppy, I’d just go find one, but I think it is more so contributing to a huge problem. Right now the shelters are jammed packed with pets awaiting adoption. There aren’t enough foster homes for pets at all, so why breed in the backyard when there are so many pets that need a home?

When Molly was rescued from under my deck, I couldn’t find ANYONE to take her. They said IF I dropped her off, and she didn’t warm up within 3-5 days, she would be euthanized. It took almost 3 weeks for her to come to me and well over a month before she would walk across the room without edging the walls. Saying this makes me feel bad, because I cannot imagine NOT having Molly now. I never thought I’d get so attached to a cat like this, but even now, after months she still ONLY comes to me, nobody else.

I'd imagine being toss for dead has affected her trust in humans. Lucky for her, she picked the right house and the fact nobody likes my cooking which ended up just to the side of the house in the wooded area for her to feed off of.

pm'ed you back!! and papers dont matter!
i would imagine this post, where "papers don't matter" would tell one that one or the other of the parents (or both) were either;
1) Purchased as PETS on a limited registration and not SUPPOSE to be bred SO...they needed to be bred simply for a little profit
2) Unknown parentage in the first place, and happen to look like Labbies - SO...they needed to be bred simply for a little profit
or
3) THEIR parents were bred according to the above listed choices......
Just my humble opinion of course.
PS i don't give red.
