I'm done with discussing this and I hope the other members of our group back out as well, you read exactly what you want to read and only pay attention to parts of it. If that's how you live your life then I wish you the best, but that's a pretty piss poor closed minded attitude. BTW, one of his main caretakers is a 15 year old girl, that loves that boy to death and has made him part of her mission to get him adopted.

We listened and we report it - so go back to your little world.

yeah, you and your revisionist history.

who takes care of him now doesn't erase the fact that porkchop has an aggressive history. or that you and yours are determined to pretend it didn't happen.

Its just not what i would call "responsible" from a rescue

i dont judge every group on my experience with one. but i do judge those on here who claim to be responsible rescuers and then defend a dogs aggression or shift the blame to the owner when a problem is disclosed.

and i have kept my pets because i fell capable of handling them. additionally neither of the "problem dogs" are of a size or temperment to do anyone any real harm. If i happen to be wrong i am ready to be completely responsible. It doesn't sound like some here are when they say "yeah if you sue you will not get anything cuz i am broke".

and i can tell you i gave up exactly 1 dog in my time. A really sweet staffordshire that i was given (long story) that would go from sweetest dog ever to killing anything other than me in about half a second. It was a tough decision, but i hope some niave rescuer didn't take her from the pound thinking i had exaggerated her temperment only to have one or more of their pets killed.

That's good you are working with your dogs now. If you really had a dog that aggressive you should of had your vet put him to sleep and not risk him going back into the public.

Why don't you look up his bio on the rescue's website? I am not dismissing his behavior and neither is the rescue.

so all that ranting that you and the others did on mike (and his wife i think it was) was want, you accepting that PC has a problem? :killingme

This will be my last post to you. Mike and his wife had the dog for TWO WEEKS..maybe a little longer. We have acknowledged that THEY had an issue with Pork Chop. NOBODY else has for the last 3+ years.

You know NOTHING except for what you have read on the internet.

and i know that you and the rest of your little group crucified mike and his wife for reporting that PorK Chop was aggressive, and in fact all you and yours could do was blame mike and his wife.

The ONLY thing I crucified them over was taking him to the shelter.

In My Opinion
Boxer or a Chesapeak Bay Retriever.
both are really great with kids and will protect them at all costs.

I agree, ours taught our firstborn how to hide bones! When I needed to disipline daughter we had to put Shanna in a bedroom first. She was the best dog, so obedient and so full of humor. Thanks for reminding me of her.

To the original poster about the type of breed she should get...
I believe any dog raised with a child will become that childs best friend and confidant when Mom and Dad are the meanest people on earth. Just make sure the child is shown constantly how to treat the dog and give them responsibilities to help care for the dog. We have had a sheperd, lab, rottie and a bloodhound when my children were growing up. Lab was obnoxious as h*ll but so good with the girls and that is what is important. Sheperd and rottie would have defended each girl to their own death to protect their charges. Both of them would have never harmed anyone unless their girls were threatened. Both also had to suffer through tea parties and dress up time.
I now have Old English sheepdogs and they are just big clowns but do love to herd the grandsons. I do love my OES dearly but they are a little over anxious when it comes to working the kids! They are known as the nanny dogs and you could lay money down that they would never let the kids stray out of the yard.
In short, every dog has it's valuable traits and if it is raised with a child, what a nice gift and lesson for that child. It teachs them how to love an animal and responsibility for that special family member. Good luck with your search! Fun times are ahead!

a couple of reason, 1) i wasn't the only person making the decision, and 2) other people may have been willing to accept that they couldn't have any pets or have her around any other animals 3) everybody has different levels of what they are willing to deal with, she was way past my line. But i did drop her off with full disclosure.

You should have manned up and put that dog to sleep. It does not cost much. Why drop off a dog that you watched become aggressive? There are plenty of dogs with great behavior put to sleep everyday because there is not any room for them at the shelter.

Say it , out loud "I was too cheap to do the right thing".

i already explained why, try reading a little you dolt.

i would have been just fine with beating it to death with a shovel after seeing what it tried to do to my two other dogs and what it ultimately did to a cat, but there were other people's "feelings" to consider.
