Puppy Training

I think the only other 'accident' was one time when Gazelle barked at a kid in the yard and a piece of poo the size of a golfball popped out her butt and flew across the room. I looked at April and she says "I think she needs to go out." We still laugh about that. Kind of like the doggy version of a cough/fart/sneeze I guess. :lmao:

OMG :killingme :roflmao: :lmao:  :killingme

:dingding: Exactly! When I got my dog he was 6 weeks. I bought him a small crate which I kept lined with Puppy Pads. He was only in the crate when my entire family was away from home and while we were sleeping until he was potty trained. The last person to leave the house in the mornings put him in the crate, the first person home took him outside. We didn’t scold him for messing on the Puppy Pads while he was locked up, only when he messed on the carpet, etc (didn’t happen often). We’d praise like crazy when he did his business outside. He learned quick: Puppy Pads = OK in a pinch. Carpet = BIG no no. Grass = lots of “good boy!”’s and lovin

Now he dosnt use a bell or anything. When he has to go outside he just sits by the top of the basement stairs. If no one noticed him, he’ll come lay his head in your lap, nudge you, etc. until you say the magic words “Wanna go outside?” Then the happy dance begins  :yay:

But then again, my dog is smart :lmao:

:killingme OMG I about died when I read this. Sorry Turbo you know I luv you but I definitely cracked up at Cowgirl’s comment :roflmao:

Prove it. Gimme a little sugar. Hail to the King, baby! :roflmao:

I will get the pounce of death...

and my GSD will give you the stare of death.... he will be only an inch away from your face just staring at you.. in his mind.. he "wills" you awake. you wake up to find yourself face to face with him.. and then get the nose poke in the forehead... and big lick.

I felt bad for a friend I had house sit the GSD's .. I forgot to tell her about the stare of death..... she didnt know them THAT well... but she awoke in the middle of the night to find him staring over top of her... she said she had this strange feeling something was looking at her and thats why she woke up.. but she didnt think the dog would be looking over her. She was freaked out!! :killingme

So you are saying the time the dog was left in the crate was very limited. Exactly my point. Thank you for reinforcing it. :yay:

Her crate time was limited. We are the family who wants the dog with us as much as possible and any whimper or whine we heard out of her when she was in her crate made us all go running to get her out if we were in bed as that meant I got to pee or poop. She hated being put in the crate at night she would whine bark and cry for the first few minutes then go to sleep. When I first went to my moms house to spend a few days after moving out my mom and stepdad wanted the dog to sleep in her crate as they didn't want her running loose in the house as they thought she might find something to get into. I warned them she wouldn't do so and would protest as she hadn't been in her crate for 6 months by the time i went to spend a few days due to relatives coming for a visit. I had already went to bed and she was up with my parents and when they went to bed they put her in the crate she woke me to protesting so I got up and went downstairs and got her and brought her to bed with me she was so happy that i did that and i got a bunch of slobbery kisses. She then laid down right next to me and went to sleep and didn't make a peep til 7am. Now mind you I was in a twin bed when I went to my moms and she and she thinks the bed is hers but I have to let her know its not so she has learned shes got to share and can't have it all to herself. 'when we are home she sleeps with me in a queen sized bed so she has plenty of space to make herself comfortable.

Once when I had a dog named Rex, he was a pretty big mutt but then again I was only 3 feet tall at the time so he might not have been that big, I should call my mom later and ask how big Rex really was because now that I"m thinking about it he could've just been a cocker spaniel and we all know that cocker spaniels aren't really THAT big. Don't get me wrong there's some big ones out there I just think the norm is rather mid range. Well I took REx over to my friends house, her name was Amy , I can't remember her last name. I made her eat a mud pie once that was way funny. She didn't think so but I did. She had the nicest hair. I wish I had hair like her to this day. She was always talking about how big REx was, you know he might not have been a cocker spaniel because she was taller then me so he might have actually been a really big dog. I really need to check up on that. Well she really liked REx so I would always take him with me over to her house. Not in her house because her mom HATED dogs, I mean HATEd dogs. She would always yell "get that huge ugly dog out of my garden!!". Ya I need to check on what kind of dog Rex was because Amy's mom was ginormous herself so for her to think Rex was big he must have been. Well this one time I took REx over to Amy's house and he ate all of her mom's brocolli plants!!! OMG , we were in so much trouble. It was our fault Rex ate them...one because he LOVED brocolli and I knew this and didn't keep him away, and two because we lost interest in playing with Rex after about 4 minutes and went and played in our fort that we had made out of recycled cans and old pop tart boxes. We would spend hours in that fort talking about the other more ugly girls at our school and about how big Rex was. (I'm calling mom now).... Well we got in so much trouble that day. I was made to keep Rex locked up in his crate whenever I went out to play with Amy, or whoever actually, Tara was someone I played with also on a regualr basis. Her mom liked Dogs but Tara was allergic so I never took him with me. Oh mom just told me he was a mutt, a mix between a cocker spaniel and a mastiff. So I was kinda right. I really don't know (now that I"m older) how a mastiff and a cocker spaniel hooked up but hey.... your story reminded me about how much Rex hated his crate and liked being out eating Brocolli so I thought I'd share.

I LOVE broccoli, especially with cheese sauce. Rex must have been very big because broccoli is good and makes you grow.

:roflmao:

That was awesome. Took me a minute to figure out.... Dur me. :lmao:
