Question for the moment: Ga$ prices?

Haven't changed anything and just dealing w/the extra cost. Like most people, I don't like putting out the extra money, but don't see the point in cutting back from doing things.

I agree with you, I don't like going to the gas station any more than I have to.
But i'm not going to let it hinder me from doing things I want to do.

I agree - life is short and not going to stop doing things I enjoy doing because of gas prices, etc.

Yeah, it's a short drive for me to. I can walk to Safeway and Subway from work, and it's a real nice walk :yay:

They put a Subway in Smallwood, go a mile down the road to Nick's and get your sub, cheaper and taste sooo good. Nice walk in daylight hours not so nice after dark.

Im beginning to rethink getting rid of my little 4 banger S10 this summer for a 4x4 quad cab pickup (Dakota,Tacoma,Ford Sport Trac or Colorado) and get rid of the spouses Grand Prix, let her have my Toyota Highlander(she hardly goes anywhere now) and get me a smaller commuter car, something that gets more like 25- 30 mpg., like a Dodge Caliber or Avenger maybe a Hyundia of some kind. :buddies:

I don't really have the option to change too much! I have to work and I have to drive to get there. When I can I try to work from home - my boss won't set me a schedule, but could care less if I do it now and then. I've cut out unnecessary spending - like hitting Starbucks in the morning and just using the Flavia machine at work. . . . but I don't let the gas prices stop me from going where I need or want to go.

I used to pay $70 per tank for my SUV per week, almost $300/month.
Now using my uncles old car which gets about 25 mpg, and only paying $40/week
which is only $160/month. So I'm only paying half as much per month, but the drawback is i'm driving a sh*tty car now. However I do drive the SUV on the weekends, so I'm still having to tank up at least once a month, and I'm also paying insurance for the other car, so now I'm not so sure I'm saving anymore.

Nick's subs are so good.

I go there from time to time, but I try not to eat the same things all the time and get tired of them.

What sacrafices have you had to make because of the skyrocketing price of gas prices?

If you haven't yet made any sacrafices, how have you changed your driving habits?

For me, A LOT fewer trips to St. Mary's County to see the beauty, and the racing. I already drive as minimal as I can, and I have significantly changed acceleration habits.

Nothing, I just drove to NC and back, my car got 40 mpg during the trip.

I was surprised that gas through VA and NC was 10 cents more than it was here, except right over the 301 bridge into VA it was the same as MD.

I'm actually looking for a job close to my house so I can ride my bike (wish me luck). Thinking about going back to school online instead of CSM. STS bus is $1.00 to $1.50 depending where you want to go, just don't talk to anybody, don't make eye contact either:crazy:

We are combining trips and not doing the "hey, let's run here" thing... even with 2 jap cars we are trying to cut back.

Where is this beauty in St. Mary's you speak of?

It hasn't affected me any. If it goes up 10 cents a gallon, I pay a measly dollar.

I don't get all the hoopla over gas prices. Worrying about pennies.

Has confinement issues..
.10 per gallon
Times 20 gallons per car( my car)
Times 2 trips to Sheetz a week( just a guess if everyone drives every single day)
Times 4 weeks
Times 12,994 registered somd.com users

= 207,904 dollars a month profit for gas companies just off the folks on this forum.

That's 63,970 Shirley Temples
43,769 Buttery Nipples
6930 pairs of Crocs
1907 Coach Bags
5 Harleys
and almost a whole house.

The Government could do more about it if they wanted to. The oil companies are just making a profit, as is the Government. Gas is taxed more than you think.

I am sure it is. They do't really expect us to believe that it's cost double to produce, do they? They tax and regulate rule and control everything. What can you do?

I was just considering the possibilities. If everyone on the forum stopped driving for about a month, this could be the best dressed, most intoxicated biker forum ever.:jet:

Personally, I'm not doing anything different about my gas consumption than I normally do. I put ten bucks in it every day regardless of the price because I don't want that POS to die on me with a full tank and I don't leave the house unless it's to come to work or make the county route from Lexington Park up 235 to Leonadtown and down 5 to home.
