Question for the Police on the site

How long does one have to decide to report an assault?

reason I ask is because About a month ago I had someone beat me with a shovel out of a fit of rage. At the time I just blocked all of his attempts to do damage and was successful expect for one good hit across the stomach that reopened a previous hernia surgery and cause excessive bruising. (pictures on file) I was going to let it go.

The last few weeks however I have been told by another person to expect this individual to show up at my home.
Now, I have to tell you that I have had many thoughts about this persons demise, and if he were to show up at the house, I would kill him. I dont mean that to be anything but as I say. He will die.
My desire is to the point that if I hear a noise out front, I rush to the door with great hopes that it will be him. So I can Kill him, painfully, slowly and with great pleasure.

Since I am not by nature a violent person, these thoughts are starting to concern me.
So, how long in the state of maryland does one have to report an attack of that nature and just have the guy locked up to keep me out of jail for his murder.

take this to heart, I fear that I am not joking on this matter and should I see him again in public, or on my property, it would take only one word from his foul mouth for me to execute my desire.

You should be on the phone now. Every second gone reduces your credibility. I'm sure you needed medical attention, why didn't the medical facility file a report? Actually, a month later will be difficult for the police to swallow.

They show up now and you kill them with no report, I'll suggest soap on a rope if you're male.

Why didn't you #### him up when he was peeling your wig back with a shovel?

I would report it asap. If there is evidence they can charge whoever it is, They should at least wite a report and refer you to the district court commisioner for charges. You may also get a peace bond to keep whoever away from you

There should be a statute of limitations of 2 years. Why didn't you charge him as soon as it happened?

I am not a police Officer but people close to me are, and due to recent personal experiences, I can tell you that the longer you wait, the harder it is for the police to justify an arrest. Unless you have witnesses willing to come forward, it sounds like the only thing that you have are medical bills. Then it becomes your word against his and your chances of him paying for the crime are 50/50 at best.

Make the call, and request the protection bond. Even if you are not granted the bond, the request is on record, and any harrassment, threat or other contact by him SHOULD be enough to grant you the protection order. After that, any of the above will result in his arrest. Now, an arrest still does not mean a conviction. It may take MANY arrests to show a pattern and thus a conviction.

Good Luck with it. my advice to you is to take the advice on this forum, file a complaint at the very least and go through the steps necessary to keep this guy away from you.

Least but not last, quit posting on a public forum about your desire for him to be dead. If ANYTHING should happen to the guy, whether or not you did it, because of what you posted above, you could be a suspect. :smack: At least you didn't post the guys name.

Again, good luck with it, be patient with the system. It WON'T work as fast as you think it should, but it WILL eventually work.

Not to appear naive, but it wasn't until we moved to Maryland that I realized that people actually settled arguments fist to cuff. :yikes:

Contrary to popular believe, this phenomenon is not unique to Maryland.

In fact, settling disputes by use of physical force, has been pretty much status quo for humanity as a whole, for about the past eternity or so.

Do you mean fisticuffs, actually fighting? Nothing new here or anywhere I've ever been. The new trend is the greater likelihood of someone bringing a gun, knife, baseball bat or other weapon to a fist fight.

Oh, I beg to differ. :smack: The more educated have learned that words are much more powerful than the fist. :huggy: That's the whole essence behind evolution. :buttkick:
You say "the more educated", not necessarily the more intelligent. Try that in downtown Baltimore and let me know how it works for you.
Who are you people and should I be afraid?
Only if you feel inclined to attack us, in which case you should bring more then your lips.

Been there, done that and yes, it does work. :howdy: You'd be surprised what a kind word and non-violence will do. :huggy:
and when your kind word and non-violence fails to bring the desired results of a peaceful end to the confrontation?

then, you whoop butt like its going out of style.

I do agree, if you can walk away from a situation do it.
If the situation follows you, make sure that it ends the first time.

now, for the original poster.

dont kill him. dont go after him.
file a report and let the law take care of it.
if he shows up on your doorstep, whoop his arse to the point of his not being a threat to you, then call the police to come get him out of your yard.

You remind me of the democrat/republican joke where each and their family confronts a man with a knife. The democrat wants to analyze the situation and talk about it over meetings while the republican unloads his 9mm into the thug, reloads and unloads again.

You talk to your thug while I unload the 9mm into my thug and we'll see who lives longer. :yay:

That is actually where the handshake originated. Men would grab each others wrists to shake any weapons out before moving forward with conversation.

Now lets think about this for a minute, if he DOESN'T act on his thoughts....there would be no job security for Rottncop (who likes to call himself a trash collector for the state when asked what he does for a living) nor would there be any fodder for thousands of posts on this forum....why discourage him? <kidding> I don't give legal advice.

Call the SP barrack. Then call a counselor for anger management and pent up frustration. Seriously. You are a victim, and it sounds like you have post traumatic stress disorder.

When i had it, i felt much better after i buzzed her with my car and saw the fear on her face. she got my point and never bothered my peoples again. Given half the chance, i can imagine doing that all over again, so i can relate.

When you say you have pix's on file-who took them-the hospital you went to?
Were you transported?
Is there a paper trail?
If you answered YES to any of these questions-you should contact the police ASAP.
Yours or somebody elses life may at stake here!
