The blindfold gives us the impression that "Justice is Blind". Meaning that you should reasonable expect fair treatment in our courts.

Can someone point out any US law that is actually discriminatory due to race? If you break a law and get caught that is on you. Personal responsibility comes into play.

As a sovereign nation we have all sorts of laws. Many of them deal with who can live here, who can visit and for how long. Many nations have similar laws. How these laws are enforced differ from country to country. For the most part these laws make sense since they protect the populace from marauding hordes. I'm only interested in how they are applied here in the US of A.

Now we have a 'crisis' on our southern border. Someone sent out a memo that the back door was open, so come on in. And come they did. Lots of folks that live here are not too happy with the events that are taking place. Some have even gotten involved with protesting the huge crowds of illegal minors. Others like to point out that the protesters are only angry because the illegal kids don't look like them. The 2nd group likes to paint the other group as being racist for wanting the country to uphold the law.

H.R. 7311 also know as the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 was signed by President GW Bush on 12/23/2008. Below is a section of that law.

Section235 -
Directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop policies and procedures to ensure that unaccompanied alien children in the United States are safely repatriated to their country of nationality or of last habitual residence.

I don't see anywhere in the law that mentions race. It refers to the children as unaccompanied aliens. So why would someone that wants this law enforced be labeled a racist? Are we suppose to ignore our laws since this affects children? If so, then why have any law at all.

And obamy wants 4 billion to take care of them all. He must think US tax dollars can solve anything. He left the dayum back door open, how about he gives up the money. Crisis in Africa, hey, we'll give you 2 billion for your energy program, crisis in the Ukraine, here's another couple billion to fix your problem, etc. etc. This crisis is in our country and should be fixed by this idiot president instead of throwing money at it. Solution: Ship..them..back. We just don't have the facilities to take care of them all.

anyone with half a brain can read that info and get a good understanding of it. they cant dumb it down enough for you to understand. :yay:

I'm not saying it cant be comprehended. What I'm saying is, if you have a full time job, children and pets at home to take care of, obligations to your community, activities that your children attend, etc...you wouldn't have the time to read it. Some simply have more free time on their hands then others do. However, I do believe that some laws are written with as much legalese as possible to convolute the message. I digress back to Nancy Pelosi's statement referring to Obamacare. "If you want to know what's in it, pass it."

Could you point out for us where this law is racist? TIA

The law is not racist it applies to all races, Chinese, Arab, Negroes. it doesn't specify a race so it isn't racist.

Now here is where the racism comes in, on this particular law.

People who want to denigrate and intimidate hose who oppose our country being given away to illegals shout racism, because they know that for some reason, being called a racist frightens some Americans. Some are just so afraid of being called a racist that they will stand aside and be robbed of their heritage.

It has worked for years . Use the race card and people shut up. Toss that trump on the table and the other players pull out.

When Americans get sick to puking at being called racist and wake up to the fact that the word "Racist" is being used to intimidate them and empower the user that is the day racism will stop. We are getting closer to that day, for Heaven knows the word has been overused by this administration and it's Democrat enablers.

Call me anything you like I know what is right and what is wrong, and friends we are getting wronged.

If you care you would make the time to read it. Instead you make time to batch about it online

BTW, that comment about Pelosi is about as accurate as palins infamous 'i can see Russia from my house'. That bill was posted online prior to being passed. Any congressman who says he didn't read it before the vote was just lazy.

The comment about Pelosi is correct, and does not compare with Palins Statement, that Palin never made.
The Statement referenced by you to Pelosi was a part of a Saturday Night Live skit that idiots actually believe she said.

The fastest reader in the world could not read the ACA bill in the time between when it was posted and the time it was passed. And even if they could read that fast the bill references other bills that would have had to have been looked up and studied. No way anyone who voted on that bill knew what was in it.

Then we add to the fact that the bill gave Sebelius powers to change almost anything it said, and Obama did change many things it said.

The bill grows like Topsy .A law that changes and expands every day. Fact is even when Pelosi said" Pass it to see what's in it" It was only partially written.

The bill gets rewritten most every day.

You hate ,pretty much all you do is hate , you're as racist as the day is long !

Gee you and I are the same in that regard aren't we? Just on opposite sides of the fence.

You see one does not have to be white to be racist, but your side accepts the racism they promote as something to be proud of.

Indeed you are much more racist than I could ever be. But the accusation you toss at me is like water off a ducks back, it doesn't bother me at all coming from a racist profligate such as yourself.

So it was posted, and any politician that voted on it (for or against) without reading it was just lazy. Pelosi's comment was directed at the public, not politicians. The FACT IS the bill was posted online prior to it being brought to a vote, despite what spin Fox has attached to a 5 second Pelosi gaff.

I'm not following where you're going with this. Are people suggesting the law itself is racist? If so, are there many people suggesting that?

If anything, I would think the people being accused of being racist would be those that don't want the law (e.g. the 2008 reauthorization of the TVPA that you referred to in the OP and the HSA of 2002) followed. Not that I'd necessarily agree with the accusation, but I'd think if anyone was going to be called racist in this situation it would be the ones that want these UAC to be sent back right away - i.e. those that would want the relevant laws ignored.

The law requires that we follow a process, a process that can be drawn out - depending on a number of factors, including the resources that are available. In other words, the law in effect requires that these children (i.e those that aren't Mexican) be allowed to stay here for a while. And while they're here the law requires that we take care of them. It requires that they quickly be placed in the custody of the DHHS (Health and Human Services) rather than the DHS (Homeland Security). It requires, e.g., that they be promptly placed in settings that are in the best interests of the child. It requires that they have access to legal counsel. It allows them to apply for a change in status such that they might be allowed to stay permanently or indefinitely.

I don't think you're suggesting that the people who support them being treated in such ways - that want them to be able to stay for a protracted period of time, perhaps permanently - are being called racists. If so, that would surprise me and I certainly haven't heard it myself.
