Misuse of terms.. They aren't going to get deprogrammed, they are going to get RE-programmed.

REAL Christians are going to come in and save them, and get them baptised in a REAL church, and have them become members and be REAL Christians.

If they are 30 and have given their 12 year olds away to be sexually abused by the church elders, they need to go to jail.

It happened to them, it is how it is "meant to be" in accordance with what they have been taught. This was not "rape" to them. It was "submitting to your husband" or to the elders. They may even tell their daughters to obey to avoid beatings. Who really knows except for the women themselves? IMO they don't deserve jail time.

These men weren't running a sex cult. They were members of a religion, and they believed that what they were doing is what made God happy. They broke the law, and they deserve to be punished, but don't make it into something it is not.

I don't believe for a minute that the women aren't just as guilty. They knew better. They may have been scared to stand up for what is right, but that does not change the fact that they stood by as their own daughters were raped.

If women want to be treated the same as men, then we can't excuse their actions when they are just as guilty as the men. You can't tell me that women deserve equal treatment when it's a positive, but are the victim when things go wrong.

Women deserve to be treated equally no matter what. Good or bad.

I'm sure there are some that know it's wrong and came there of their own will but what about the ones that were born there and taught to live that way. I got a traffic ticket once for driving 45 in a 35. I told the officer I didn't know what the speed limit was, and figured 45 was the standard....the officer told me TOUGH... there's no excuse for ignorance of the law. same with the mothers who are forcing their 12 year old daughters to mate with these sick old fecks because they've been brainwashed. Should they throw them in jail because they've been brainwashed? I don't know. One part of me says yes, they should...(or some kind of rehabilitave program) I think they need to keep religion out of it though. You break the law, you go to jail...PERIOD! And isn't polygamy illegal? It just amazes me how these creeps are probably going to walk because of a stupid technicality like finding the 16 yr old girl. Do they HAVE to have the girl testify to justify probable cause? I mean, you find a drug dealer selling crack, you're going to bust his butt right? here, we have a round-up of people breaking the law not only with the polygamy, but with the underage marriage, abuse, etc...

I think a man that had no outside contact might need to be handle differently, how I do not know. But men that had contact with the outside world - guilty. Same goes for women with access outside the compound.

I also find it hard to believe that an adult woman would allow such horror to her own child but until I lived that life (which I cannot even imagine) I don't think I can totally condemn her.

The saddest part is what is to happen to these children? They're all to have a less horrific upbringing but who is to say it will end up better. What can they do with so many?

Yes they need the girl for probable cause. How would you feel if the cops raided your home and carted your family off because "somebody made a phone call"
