Where's the calls for equality here?

If this was a team mate, a male friend in an elevator, they'd be expected to shake hands, move on, right? Well, this woman married the guy AFTER the incident. Does she need to be protected from herself now that we, with all our super powers of KNOWING what's going on merely by use of our Youtube's, have handed down our decree?

This is, of course, somewhat tongue in cheek but it IS to question this idiotic construct of equality in this and that but, not that and this. Is it, truly, never ok to hit a guy? Well, of course not. If that was what's his face the dundering wanna be college student/little angel in Ferguson, we'd say Ray was well within his rights and fat boy shouldn't oughta had approached a fella in an aggressive manner like that. So, what of equality?

Why? She obviously doesn't mind getting punched out, so why should it be any of the NFL's business?

Which brings up the question, when does an employer have the right to fire you based on behavior in your personal off time? Theft conviction less than $100? Speeding ticket? Drunk driving charge? Assault charge? Handgun violation? Leaving your kid in the car to die? Divorce? Car accident that kills another person?

My thought too.
At a team level yes.

And then this morning, I hear on the news there is a statement from the White House: <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/ravens/2014/09/08/white-house-reacts-to-ray-rice-video/15315083/">White House Reacts to Ray Rice Video</a>

"The President is the father of two daughters. And like any American, he believes that domestic violence is contemptible and unacceptable in a civilized society. Hitting a woman is not something a real man does, and that's true whether or not an act of violence happens in the public eye, or, far too often, behind closed doors. Stopping domestic violence is something that's bigger than football – and all of us have a responsibility to put a stop to it."

Yeah, this is more noteworthy than the US Marine being held in a Mexican jail.
