Help "Invisible Dogs"
Hope Razzie gets better!!! My lab has food allergies and does the paw licking every once in awhile..

I saw a dog in Lowes on Sunday that is available for adoption at the Well Pet clinic.. I fell in love with her.. I can't stop thinking about her!!!!!

Does anyone know if they have a website for the Well Pet's available adoptions?

Ear problems

My black lab has an allergic reaction in her ears (not mites or the usual) we have spent thousands of dollars trying to help her but to no avail. She's seen 3 vets, been on antibotics, steriods, living bacteria, special food, ear drops, etc. The steriods do take away the infection but you can only keep a dog on steriods for 10 days and immediatly after taking her off in 24 hrs it's back. Nobody seems to know what it is exactly.

Ear description: swallon, brown infection, red irritated (from her itching), stinky, when you rub her ears you can hear the liquid (infection) in her ears.

Has anyone else ever heard of this ??

I heard there was a place in Baltimore you could take your dog to be tested for allergies (much like humans) do you think this would help? Anyone know the name of this place?

I am at my witts end, I hate seeing her suffer and not being able to do anything about it ?

Any help or advice ???

I most have the sister to that dog. We have tried everything, food, meds, creams, you name it. She also licks her paws. I just figured it was something in the house, since we have ruled out everything else. We have spent $$$$ on testing, meds. If you find an answer please let me know.:howdy:

Does my butt look big?
I'm stupid about pets cause Tipper never had any issues until the end. They put her on Ketoconazole, 200 mg, 2 tabs a day, 2 x a day. And I have to give it to her with a "fatty meal" or the vet said "cheese." I'm not starting her on it until Wednesday because if it upsets her tummy, she said it would take three days to do that, so I thought it would be good to be home if she starts yakking.

Ketoconazole (if that is fulvicin I have to look it up) is a quick way to KILL a pet..very very hard on them it is used for fungus and ringworm etc too...

I agree with starting out simple..look at your food as Catt said and change her diet to a more natural food...Catt I am sure would help you with that..Medicated shampoos will help too to relieve itching till you cure it from the inside out.

Actually I have a bunch of fulvicin 250 mg and 500 mg I wont use...Fluconazole is alot safer...good luck..

Absolutely Paso! In fact, I had Biscuit at the vet last night for HW check and general checkup. He has some discoloration in a few of his toenails. Vet said it's not a big deal but MOST of the dogs in somd have it..it's a type of "fungus." She said she doesn't like to give the dogs the oral meds because it can mess with the kidneys and liver. She said to use "any women's yeast meds" (and giggled) topically and then said good luck having him not lick it off. But Biscuit's feet aren't bothering him at all.

I'm really lucky that my vet isn't one to just hand out pills.

you are lucky...most vets want to sell sell sell...the fluconazole is the one day tab for womens yeast infections...it is SUPER and does not kill the liver like fulvicin....

Catt, also you can take the creams like monostate (add water and spray on feet) or buy athletes foot meds (spray powder) you can SPRAY the feet..

Where did you get your dog? Maybe they are from the same breeder.

The vet had us purchase a special dog food directly from him that was a $100.00 for a 20lb bag (it was for dogs with allergies) I can't remeber the name as it was a couple years ago.

Most of the food the vets sell is crap. IMO

Does she roll around in dirt a lot? Maybe it irritates her ears?

No, she is an inside dog and only goes out on the leash
We have found that it does get worse if we put her outside for a period of time, which is why she is now a totally inside dog ..

This is what her ears look like

Just worse

Ok that picture wouldn't work
Let me see if I can find something else

I would try anything for her sake..

Then do a google search for allergies/dogs/food and read up on all the information you find.

MANY of the ingredients in commerical pet foods, as well as the vaccinations and medications veterinarians prescribe are what cause problems that we see in our pets.

So are you saying I SHOULDN'T give her the Ketoconazole? :jameo:

I am going to get the food Catt recommended tonight. I will also try some "women's" stuff or athletes foot spray for her feet. They aren't tender, they are just really red (in between the pads, deep down) and she licks them.

Paso, I've been looking up both medicines, and they look like 2 separate meds. It is saying that keto can cause liver damage, but so can lots of other things. BS, it isn't like she'd be on it for a long time, is it?
