Paso, I've been looking up both medicines, and they look like 2 separate meds. It is saying that keto can cause liver damage, but so can lots of other things. BS, it isn't like she'd be on it for a long time, is it?

A month at best.......it's to kill the yeast.

I am going to get the food Catt recommended tonight.

As I wrote earlier..the food I recommended was for an older dog, and it will definitely help with the arthritis issues.

I would talk to Kate and see what she suggests for the allergy issue. They have fish and sweet potato foods that may be better for her allergies and then you can just give her supplements of glucosamine for her arthritis.

There is no simple answer. I know I keep preaching research and it can seem time consuming but in the long run it's well worth it. I have seen improvement in all of my pets since using better foods. My old Golden, Boomer, even stopped having his epileptic seizures after I made some changes in his food.

After all, don't most of you question your doctors for YOUR health...what side effects meds can have, how certain foods can react, etc.? Why would you want any different for your pet?

I'm heading over there after work and I'll talk to Kate and tell her what issues Raz is having.

My black lab has an allergic reaction in her ears (not mites or the usual) we have spent thousands of dollars trying to help her but to no avail. She's seen 3 vets, been on antibotics, steriods, living bacteria, special food, ear drops, etc. The steriods do take away the infection but you can only keep a dog on steriods for 10 days and immediatly after taking her off in 24 hrs it's back. Nobody seems to know what it is exactly.

Ear description: swallon, brown infection, red irritated (from her itching), stinky, when you rub her ears you can hear the liquid (infection) in her ears.

Has anyone else ever heard of this ??

I heard there was a place in Baltimore you could take your dog to be tested for allergies (much like humans) do you think this would help? Anyone know the name of this place?

I am at my witts end, I hate seeing her suffer and not being able to do anything about it ?

Any help or advice ???

Dr Kummel treated my one of my dogs for allergies and saw another one for itchy skin issues. She is really good, with a terrific staff and I highly recommend her. It has been several years since I have seen her...

You know, about 30 years ago, I took my Irish Setter to see her. She has just started with Lynn Animal Hospital in Riverdale. I like her. I wonder what her philosphy is with regard to food, etc.

Thanks! Sometimes I feel like I'm :blahblah: or that I'm  but like I was just telling Cowgirl in a pm when she inquired about the Canidae Platinum, my old Lab has become a new dog in the last two years since I made the change. He has lost weight, his liver enzymes returned to normal and he's got so much energy..running and you can just see that he is so happy.

We had an Irish Setter when I was young. He was such a  dog. :roflmao:

He bloated when we were camping. We rushed him to the closest vet, but he didn't make it. :frown:

She and I talked about food when I took my dog for allergy issues. She wanted me to cook everything FRESH for his meals - meat and veggie combos. I can't remember specifics but we laughed because I don't even cook for myself, the way that she wanted me to cook for Max! :lmao:
