Real language of D.C.: Get 'cised'

Adopt me please !
"WASHINGTON -- You know a native New Yorker when you hear one, but what about someone who grew up in D.C.?

Researchers say the city does have its own language, and a study of it is ongoing.

D.C. native and WTOP commentator Clinton Yates says there are three unique words in particular that people who grew up in the city use.

The first is "bama," a name for a person who is unstylish or unsophisticated. "

I realize that SoMD is different from DC but I do hear some of these coming out of SoMDers also.

I wouldn't put much store by the "expert" quoted in the article. Her definition of cised is, well, wrong. The most common usage is akin to hooking someone up with something or helping them out:

"I was feemin' but Antoine cised me up with some weed".

"I couldn't get that damn Lexus started with NayNay's master key but Shevonne cised me with a screwdriver".

"Let's say I go to the grocery store and some girl says, 'Y'all you trippin.' You need to give me my change.' That's a different reaction than 'Excuse me, I think you gave me the wrong amount back.' I think that that's one of the reasons why all this work is important, is because understanding people is critical to being able to get along," says Yates, who was born in the 1980s and grew up in the '90s.

No, the girl is rude, and hasn't been taught manners or social skills.

Don't condone bad behavior or give excuses for it.. They can act politely just as well as everyone else does, some just choose not to.

Surely you jest ...
I'm cised about going to the concert with him. (use in my day, excited)

I'm feemin' for a stuffed pork chop. (doesn't have to be for pot, its for anything your cravin' hard for)

Wish I had a dollar for every time I've been told "there is no 'r' in Wa(r)shington" ...

:yeahthat: Back in the 70s 'bama was a derogatory term for negro in middle school.

This was before the great 'Bama came along, but I've started hearing it again lately...

Wouldn't have anything to do with the unemployment rate among blacks in this 'bama economy, would it?
