:yeahthat: 930, no. MCI Center, yes.

Don't be hatin on 930 club. That is one of my favorite places to go and see concerts. I get a kick out of all the youngins who are on the phone with their parents asking "Where are you going to pick me up outside after the concert" "Are you sure the Metro is going to be running when we get out of here"

Like what do you mean?

I went to concerts when I was that age - in fact I worked at the auditorium they were held at when I was that age. But it was a different time and Lincoln, NE didn't get too many wild concerts. There were more drugs and fights at school than there were at the concerts.

Larry, growing up in Laurel and seeing Ted Nugent and Priest at the Cap Center, had a different experience than I did.

I probably had the same experience Larry did. There was lots of drinking, drugging, etc.

When my husband took our sons to see Green Day at MCI, he saw none of that. IF it were going on it wasn't obvious like it used to be. While people were surely getting into the music, getting wild, and whatnot they didn't have any drinks that were visable or anything like that.

Hearing all of my husbands "concert experiences" at the Cap Center makes me never want to send my daughter to a concert:lol:

He had very little parental supervision so really it's not a surprise that he had alcohol poisoning at the age of 13:ohwell:

Yup and the underage get these huge ass black stamps across both hands so if they even think about trying to get a drink, they will get tossed out even before the show starts.

I was just at a concert(Alice In Chains) in a venue like the 9:30 Club. I was surprised to see parents with their teens. Security was the best I have seen and that makes a difference. Security kept the rowdies down and we didn't smell too much pot. In front of me was a dad and his approx. 16 year old son.

It's the trust level with the other parent with the kids. If you don't feel comfortable then don't do it.

I went to several concerts at the Cap Center with a friend and her mom. The mother was the one who bought us beer. My parents had no clue.

Chili Peppers arent that bad, there are a lot worse concerts and types of music she could be into.

While I have a couple of their albums, the guys in that band always seemed creepy to me. Socks weren't made to be worn as codpieces.

Would you let your 15 year old daughter go to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert?

I already know what my answer is, but one of you might come up with a compelling reason to change my mind.

I saw Led Zeppelin in 72 when I was 14 but my older cousin attended/supervised.
Aren't the Chili Peppers a little passe' these days ?
Anyhow...
It's not the band, it's the band of cohorts.
Let 'em breathe....but be accountable.
p.s.
I regret not seeing the Donovan concert at the 930 recently....
how passe' is that ?

No, and they wouldn't even dare to ask.

"No" is a short word, but when you start to use it, they respect it.

I've been kicked out of a concert at the Cap Center :diva: (not for underage drinking either :really:) - But I finagled my way back in. I bought tickets to the concert by driving my parent's Suburban in the snow/ice covered roads with a Provisional License and fibbing about the regs around the rules of said license (with no adult in the car)... I did a 180 on the ice by Landover Mall trying to buy the tickets, yet kept on going once I got my bearings straight. I believe I snuck in some sort of alcohol and prolly smoked and so on while in the concert... and so on and so on...

I guess I was probably one of those kids that you didn't want your kids hanging around with back then... :ohwell:

:lmao:

So, to answer your question Vrai, I totally don't know what I'd do.

I only know what I did :yay:

I'm taking my kids to that concert. I've been to a ton of concerts; all different genres and I must say the most totally buckwild concerts I've gone to was Kenny Chesney FOLLOWED by Metallica's Summer Sanitarium - both at FedEx Field. Nissan Pavilion is not a place I'd take a teenager, unless I had seats. Too much stuff goes on in the lawn area...:twitch:

Concerts at the Verizon Center are fine. There is a ton of security. Drinking is controlled. I went to see Green Day there as well and it was rather tame. Plus, the concert is in themiddle of the week, I believe it's a Thursday, I'm making mine go to school that Friday. It ultimately comes down to how comfortable you are with the people she is going with.

My concern is the band and the type of fans they attract. She and her sister went to American Idol when they were in DC a couple years ago and I had zero problem with it.

She has her whole life to see guys with socks on their ####s - that's not something she needs to be exposed to at 15.

I'd let mine go, I dont think the peppers are too bad and the people i have seen at their shows are freaky, but not dangerous. Besides, she has learned about all the bad stuff in DARE, right.

Any way, it could be worse, she could want to see widespread panic, or phish... :barf:
