If you request a hearing for one of those, you might find that the company is the one who sets the court dates, and that you cannot get anyone admitted to the court as an expert witness, and the company is allowed to use a marketing guy, and is not required to produce real calbration paperwork, nor real experts.

Bullsh1t ... It turned yellow for several seconds prior to suddenly turning red, you weren't paying attention to your driving.

You can get one sitting still. That's what all the stink was about last year (or so) up north. People were getting tickets, even though they were stopped for the red lights because they were parked over the solid white line into the intersection.

Aps, here's the thing BOP was talking about, vid on myfoxdc has died, but the gist was this......

New Carrolton had red light cameras that didnt just nab you for being in the intersection, but for just being over the stop line at all during the red. Even if you were not intruding on the crosswalk.


Fox's story was pretty cool. Lady is at a dead stop on the red, FLASH, reporter steps up to the car, "Ma'am, do you know you just got a ticket", "No", "You did, that flash was a picture being taken", "But I am stopped", ""Yes, Ma'am, you are".


So, while I agree that being in the intersection during a red should be a ticket, I dont think that being over the stop line should be enforceable by cameras.

Technically correct :shrug: The law says to stop behind the fat white line.

Was sitting at a light yesterday with my son and I pointed out a guy whose entire car was over the line. Told him that if a cop saw him sitting there like that he could write him up for running the red light

Yep, but remember, the point that is always used to sell these things is increased safety. which of course they don't provide. But very few accidents are cuased by cars forward of the stop line back aft of the crosswalk.

Are you in the wrong, legally? And can you be cited? Sure, whats the point?

Love these stupid azz speed/red light cameras. The wonderful effing city of DC sent me a ticket for a truck doing 36 in a 25 mph zone. One problem, the truck is not mine. Last time it was Baltimore and that one took me 3 months to straighten out. Wonder how long this one will take me?

Yep, these things rock. At least one municipality in Md has the moral fiber to shut them down for fleecing citizens, and not cover it up because they like the money more than they like seeing an honest face in the mirror in the AM

Town says not good enough, try again, company cant believe the town really wants answers instead of good sounding fluff, blows them off. town says GTFO. )
