A couple questions. Don't most breeders that have a female have males too? Why would a respectable and established breeder look for an outside stud? So would you be getting a female to breed your dog with or just finding someone else who has a purebred lab? Are you willing to risk your childs well being because you want your dog to be a daddy? Hormones can be a very powerful thing and a big dog with one thing on his mind could very easily hurt your kid.

I AM DEFINTELY NOT GOING TO BASH ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BREED---YOU KNOW WHAT, I AM A BREEDER AND I LOVE IT MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD...AND I UNDERSTAND THERE MIGHT BE AN ABUNDANCE OF ANIMALS IN SHELTERS---I RESCUED A PIT BULL FROM A SHELTER ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO...AND I BRED PIT BULLS...THEY ARE AMAZING ANIMALS...AND YES, IT IS A SHAME THAT MANY ANIMALS END UP IN SHELTERS...BUT MAYBE THAT IS WHY BREEDERS IN GENERAL SHOULD PRE-SCREEN THE NEW OWNERS...I REALLY DESPISE IT WHEN PEOPLE VOICE THEIR OPINIONS ABOUT SPAY/NUETER TO PEOPLE WHO BREED...JUST KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF AND LET US BREEDERS HAVE A CHANCE TO BREATHE BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE STARTS TO BASH US BREEDERS!!!!

If you stop breeding there will be less dogs in the kennels waiting to be put to sleep.

There are too many labs in shelters, rescues, or being given away for free. Just about everyone else I know who has labs of any color got them from shelters or from folks with "free puppies" signs out. Black labs esp (my uncle has had 1 give away and 2 shelter black labs). From both a humane and business POV it would not be worth breeding a lab.

I bet we have many of your pits in our rescue group that we pulled from the Tri Cty shelter before they were to be euthanized simply because of their breed and not being able to be adopted to the Gen Public...if you think we need more pits in the world you need to do a little more research. Most shelters everywhere do not adopt pits out to the general public and only rescues can pull them - and many rescues won't touch a pit anymore. They are far too many good pits waiting in foster care, and going down at the shelters across the U.S., to be breeding them...we always get calls to take in someone's pit, to save them from the shelter...come work w/ us for a while...

We've gotten quite a few labs too - puppies to adults - in need of a rescue for various reasons. Not to mention how many labs get dropped at the shelter, and the 2 local lab groups that do rescue...many that are in need of good homes, from puppies to adults, and most are purebred...some even w/ papers...

Black dogs-which include Labs- and cats are usually the hardest to adopt out and are usually the 1st to be euthanized.
