sneaking up the street to play nickel slots in North Beach and getting run out for being too young..I swear it was Aps that kicked me out of those places.

I was a kid in VA at the time, remember getting run out of some place over at Colonial Beach for the same thing. They had one board in the pier painted red to mark the state line between VA & MD.

I remember getting kicked out of the house during moms shows, but it was ok because all the other kids on the street were kicked out of their house too, and we didn't have electronic games we had to invent new games to play, and we played on our bikes, big wheels and roller skates, and we would all go to the street that had the biggest hill and play for hours, and if we did something we were not supposed to do, our mother would know about it before we got home because the other mothers on the street would call and tell on us.

Me and my sister had those. We were so cool. We wore them with the jeans that were pin striped on the back and plain in the front. They might have had little zippers on the ankles.

The dimmer switch for headlights was on the floor.

I remember driving around with my parents in there 1976 (I think) Cougar and the clicking sound of that switch, and thinking to myself what are they doing?

I remember I was allowed to run around the neighborhood from sun up to sun down, playing with my friends out in the street, riding bikes around and around the whole neighborhood, walking to my friends 6 houses away. What I wouldn't give to let my child experience that, but you can't these days.

My high school for drivers ed had these trainers and they had push button trans. I don't remember ever being in a car for real.

And they had those little car simulator things you sat in and "drove" while watching a driving scene on a huge screen. If you hit the kids that ran out in front of you, you had to start all over.

Hey, I'm 33 and took it in school. Half the year was Health, half was Drivers Ed.

And they made you watch gory films. Ours was called "Red Asphalt."

...I'm trying to remember how the teacher (our wrestling coach/gym teacher) knew if you didn't stop or not? I do remember playing 'Death Race 2000' and pretending to mow 'em down!
