Will do for both...Larry Gude said:...first off, I'd take the 'petunia' looking snap dragon and pinch off about half the foliage, trying to leave 6 nodes or pairs of leaves. Same thing for the snap dragon looking snapdragon, maybe take 2/3's of that because it has so many nodes. You'll get fuller, bushier and, in about 2 weeks, way more blooms.

Larry Gude said:...about heather as to what initiates flower. It's not an annual, so, it should come back as the weather warms. I am presuming the cold knocked it out, yes?
I think get it trimmed as you like and feed it, working a slow release into it's surrounding soil might be good and I think as it heats up, you'll see it come on again.
Jazz? A little help here?

watercolor said:Another question- as of one that you might have a better knowledge of.
What would be the best plant, to put in the same pot as the heather- mind you- it wouldnt be alot of room for this particular plant- but one that would climb the trelis? It would have to be partial sun if not complete shade as the overhang of the roof covers it to the pot areas. I want something bright and vibrant (as the house is while cinderblock) and something that will pop! Any ideas?
Granted I know this picture is from a couple months ago, over easter, when we got that freak snow storm.. but it shows the overhang

jazz lady said:I love my clemantis and would highly recommend it. The two I have are in partial shade and absolutely LOVE it where they are at. They are in full bloom right now and are just covered in blossoms in gorgeous shades of pink and blue. I don't have any pics from this year yet but I've posted them blooming last year. Let me see if I can find them.

But ya know what- you have never steered me wrong before- and helped me with my garden last year- so GUESS WHAT!How are they about being in the pot with another plant? Just curious. I will get a picture tonight when I get home- so that you can see what kind of pot I am talking about.
They like to have cool roots so it is a good idea to plant a low-growing shrub or place rocks in front of the clematis to create shade.

They are MUCH more full this year and have twice the blooms.
Clemantis does well in pots and don't need a lot of room. They do need a lot of support via a trellis or something similar.
Some good tips on growing in containers and varieties suited for this.
One VERY important thing:
