Oh and on a personal note.... what's your view on the ban on partial birth abortion?

Do you actually have a plan? Or are just jumping on the bandwagon?

• Reformat our Immigration policies to supplement the work force as needed but establish fines for hiring illegals, and current illegals go to the end of the line.
These are the current policies, they just aren't being enforced. If you aren't going to do anyhing, just say so.

• Strict oil conservation laws to include
o Fuel economy mandates
Like what? How much, when, etc?
o Bio-diesel usage
This is a bandaid that makes people feel good about, but does nothing to stop oil dependency or the environment.
o Stop the tax on ethanol imports (we don’t tax the oil, why the ethanol)
You might want to check your facts here. There is a federal tax. A little research goes a long way.
o Have mandatory Hybrid manufacturing quotas
Hybrids are another bandaid like bio-diesel. If we have twice as many cars on the road, but they get twice the MPG, have we accomplished anything?
• Properly fund the No Child Left Behind Act and change:
o Change it to discourage drop outs
What do dropouts and NCLB have to do with each other? Do you really think schools can fix the problems in our society that cause kids to drop out?
o If schools are failing it does not make sense to take their funding away
So we should through good money at bad schools. Great idea.
o Include full time Pre K
This is just getting crazy. You obviously know nothing about education, or you wouldn't even suggest this. Full time pre-K would help at risk kids who need intervention and have parents that will enroll them. It is of no use to most kids.

o Provide funding for teaching the arts and other creative activities.
At the federal level? No way. That is a state issue.

o Our troops need more then the 2.7% pay raise presently proposed
I agree that our troops deserve more, but what is the right number for you? How do you fund it?

You are right on this one. There should be at least 20 bases, and the embassy should be twice that size.

This should say "so should every other comrade." As a Vet, I don't deserve free medical care for life just because I served, and I would not be satisfied with the low quality health care a national system would provide.

That's an easy bandwagon to jump on. I predict no candidates will argue that we should have more pollution in the bay.

As they currently are. Good thing you won't be changing anything.

How?

As they are now. Do you really want to add a federal layer of bureauracracy to the process? What would that do?

Are you kidding? Increased funding is not the problem. Teachers that are teaching because they like summers off are the problem. I'd scrap the NEA except that would be government intervention.

The 14th is largely misunderstood all the time. Show me where it is made Constitutional. If your are referring to the "equal protection" clause, all it states is that people must be treated equally under the laws of the state. It's meaning has been broadened drastically over the years with modern liberals (as opposed to classical liberals) trying to make the laws of one state apply in another state. The 14th does not do that. The timing (1868) and wording make it totally obvious that the intent was to apply to former slaves and the aftermath of the Civil War.
Amendment XIV (1868)

Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Section 2.
Representatives shall be apportioned among the several states according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each state, excluding Indians not taxed. Do we agree that the Constitution enumerates certain specific, inalienable rights, including equal protection? Do we agree that it does not spell what the people can't do, only what they can do, no matter what?

To me, that makes it, yea or nay on gay marriage, a state issue which, to me makes it fine to either pass a law allowing it or denying it. The Constitution doesn't say traditional marriage is OK either. So, make legislators come out from behind the robes of courts and do what your constituents want.

Prohibition is the only one I can think of that limits and it applied to everyone.

I'm interested here, not trying to play gotcha. What do you think?

Agreed that it is a state issue. But .... BIG BUT ... as soon as some state makes homosexual marriage legal some modern liberal will use the expanded, misinterpreted 14th "equal protection" clause and impose homosexual marriage on all the rest of the states.

One of these days there will be an issue that will break the Union's back again. Slavery did it once; the war could have gone either way. This may or may not be the next issue, but there will be a next issue. I know that as a Christian, I will not turn my back on God's word to accept homosexual marriage. I don't care who says it is OK.
