What's your issue with it?
For some reason mine seems to stray.. I used it spring turkey this year. Had it sighted in, changed the batteries and all that good stuff but that dot just does not keep still. I'm just gonna remount my shotgun scope for this deer season.

Oh, and I use it on an 835 ulti-mag for both seasons.. I have an H.S STrut Undertaker tube for turkey season and the aftermarket Mossberg rifled slug barrel for deer season... I love that gun for deer and duck but for everything else I use my 870.

What brand red dot? Did you lock-tite the mount? What is your regular scope?

Yes, and no. Most red dots have no magnification, but there is one on the market that is a 2x. The holo sights do not either. Where I hunt, I dont need magnification, want the sight to speed up the shot. Hate iron open sights, love the fiber optic ones, but the front sight on my barrel is not removable I don't believe.

i have a red dot on my 870 12ga, I love it, you keep your eye on your target and bring the gun up to your shoulder and eye to the sight without closing an eye never lose your target by refocusing down sights or through a scope. Brings you up on target fast! Great for hunting up to 50 yards or so.

I can see it now. 10 point buck, yep, that's a doe!

Can't do that. They will give you some sort of check in number over the phone that will have a digit or sequence that will tell the butcher or Taxidermist what sex the deer should be.

Quik Shok Sabot Slug

Check out the Quik Shok Deer Slugs . They split into three pieces upon entry and this causes the deer to stop dead immediately in its tracks. Thus minimizing the chance of wounding the deer.

Since sabots themselves have no rifling on them like the sluggers they are pretty much useless out of a smoothbore, so yes sabots are really only good in a rifled barrel. I had doubts about their accuracy over 100yds, but I made a 125 yd or so kill a few year ago using copper solids out an 870 topped with a 4x piece of glass.

What do you use? I am going to be sighting in my shotgun soon w/ a new scope, and want to try different types of slugs to see what ones it likes the best. Any suggestions? I am leaning toward the core-locked (not copper solid) Remingtons, Winchester Partition or Lightfield slugs. Also thinking of going with 2 3/4" since I don't need the extra power of 3" when shooting in the woods. I figure I will get a couple boxes of a couple different types and then shoot for group and then sight in the shotgun with whichever ones give the best group. Don't like the Copper Solid since I have seen ones pulled out of deer that could almost be used for reloading due to non-expansion. Saw the same thing with a silver colored sabot that I assume was some sort of Winchester brand, but I don't know for sure.
I prefer the Depleted Uranium 120 mm APFSDS

Armor Piercing, Fin Stabilized, Discarding Sabot!!

During Operation Desert Storm a British Army Challenger tank achieve the longest range confirmed tank-to-tank kill at 5100 meters or 5.1km with an rifled 120mm APFSDS 'Charm' depleted uranium round.

YEAH Baby!!
