I am a proponent of state's rights as long as it doesn't infringe on any constitutional rights. As in, no you can't bring back slavery.

But what if states could be sanctuaries for illegal aliens? The stipulations would be that there will be no federal money, and the second the illegal leaves the state they will be arrested and deported.

Seriously.

One of the many things that makes me want to smack Democrats is that they don't seem to understand how states work - they think everything has to be Big Daddy Federal. But it's a lot easier as a citizen to control your state, and district within your state, than it is to control the fed. If Massholes want to be flooded with drug and disease ridden illegals, they should be able to have that as long as it doesn't impact the rest of us. If they find it's not working out, they can vote to change it.

Honestly, when I see news reports of godawful things happening in NYC or Chicago or Baltimore, I don't think oh how terrible, we must do something; I think, "Well, you dumbass....." I don't feel the need to get involved in things that don't affect me.

I am certain there are many illegals here now who really sought asylum. They ran from their country because of their situations there. At first that wasn't so bad, but once a few were allowed it became a tidal wave of illegals and the only way to stop it is to stop it completely.

First, we invade Mexico and take control.
Next we execute the drug cartel members and associates and confiscate all their assets.
Then we throw all the current government officials out of office.
Assist the Mexican citizens in setting up an organized government of their choosing. It doesn't have to be a democracy if that's not what they want.
We use all the confiscated cartel assets to entice Mexican nationals to return to Mexico.
We leave and let the Mexicans run their country.
Finally, and of utmost importance:
BUILD THE DAMN WALL!

But states rights are what is not covered in the rest of the constitution. Border control is a federal function - which is why courts have overturned state laws written to enforce the border. I realize that the activist class wants open borders and in theory doesn't want the feds to do their jobs. I'm pretty sure their citizens have had it with the sanctuary baloney.

Sanctuary locations could be eliminated just by passing a new, specific national law requiring cooperation with ICE. Then any jurisdiction not honoring ICE detainers would face some sort of punishment. I doubt a governor, sheriff, chief of police or any other elected official would want to be subject to arrest on behalf of an illegal. Folks need to be held accountable for their feel good ideas that negatively impact regular people. You know they are full of crap because they shipped out the 50 illegals in Martha's Vineyard in no time flat.

Maryland is a democratic party controlled state. You don't get to vote, just like picking a candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Oh, I remember that 30 years ago American children did better in schools. There was less truancy, less violence, higher test scores.
