The problem is we do actually need a lot of this type of labor, and our kids aren't willing to do it. The answer is legal immigration, but don't just allow the white collar and highly educated and make them jump through years of hoops. Make some allowances for small business owners and those with a solid history of work ethic and get that crap done in a year. If a person has 10+ years of experience doing light construction work and no criminal history, hell yes. That's a valuable person, get them in pay them well and let them pay taxes.

The problem isn’t so much that our kids aren’t willing to do it, it’s that it makes no financial sense to do it. The pay is below minimum wage because it’s done by undocumented immigrants who live 10 people per room. There really are people who like to do this kind of work, they like the gypsy lifestyle of following the harvest. They can’t afford to do it when they’re competing against people who have no deduction.

The Group of Seven (G7) consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. The G7 countries have together a population of about 780 million people (or almost 10% of the world population), comprise around 50% of worldwide nominal net wealth and about 30% of world GDP

6 of the 7 wealthiest nations are majority western European stock populations. For some reason those folks were able to build first world nations. 10% of the world's population has 50% of the wealth and almost 1/3 of the worldwide GDP. And it isn't about population size because Canada only has around 40M citizens.

Why haven't other non western European populated nations managed to create first world nations? Clearly those places have natural resources and hard working populations. Why hasn't Brazil created something along the lines of Space X? How come Indonesia (population = 282M) has never produced a Nobel Prize awardee? Why don't African migrants settle in India or Bangladesh?

Folks migrate to the G7 nations, well not Japan, because their ancestors were unable to create a first world nation. With the advent of air travel, they are able to overwhelm nations and risk ruining the social cohesion when they arrive by the millions. Unwilling to adjust to the cultural norms of their host nations, they Balkanize places where they settle in large numbers. This creates distrust among the various groups.

Sweden is finally waking up to the disaster that is multiculturalism. With over 2 million foreign born living there, 20% of their population, they are reversing their pro immigrant stance and are paying migrants to go back home.

The only immigrants living in the US should be legal immigrants. Anyone hindering the enforcement of US immigration laws should be treated as a criminal.

Right, but our forefathers were fighting an oppressor that was an ocean away, and we got help from France and Spain. It's pretty tough to overthrow your own government - ask the Democrats. Also look at Cuba and other modern day rebellions: typically what happens is the new government is just as bad if not worse than the old one.

I love immigrants and I'm proud of our melting pot. But they need to freaking melt, not form their own little enclaves and bring their third world mentality, along with crime and drugs and poverty. Then - these groups are NOT learning what it means to be American.

We have in this current administration people like Rubio, Vivek and - well eventually Tulsi - none of whom are white - but they get it. We have great minds like Thomas Sowell - who get it.

And THAT is part of the reason we import people sparingly. So they come here - and find out. Some of the most FIERCELY patriotic people you will ever meet are naturalized citizens who appreciate this country. When they come here en masse sneaking over the border and are given all kinds of goodies without effort and are even UNGRATEFUL and in a few cases, do not hesitate to commit crimes - it’s not the same.

Similarly we MUST teach civics and American history to our children. I always GET the idea of being honest about where we come from, but habitually portraying America and its settling as vile and evil destroys any sense of pride. America is a great nation and as we see, the rest of the world will do anything to get here. You think this place is so awful? Try living in a LOT of other countries. Heck, just visit. We don’t have to teach our kids how terrible we are. Just ask recent arrivals from Venezuela who are in our schools. THEY know they love it here.

Your offensive bigotry aside, it would be interesting to do a deep dive into why this is. I do not believe that blacks or Hispanics are inherently inferior, nor are whites inherently superior. A quick look around would say it's environmental, not racial. But then what created the environment?

In the US it's pretty easy to see it's drugs, liberal/progressive policies, and low expectations from community leaders/elected officials.

I have been to Juarez and I have been to Nueva Laredo , border towns and it is not pretty.

Slightly disagree. Not just kids, but many adults too. It's not a lack of will, it's the lack of receiving a good wage in exchange for their labor. The problem lies with the corporations that own the fields that need harvesting by human hands. Their first priority is shareholder profits, (or personal greed), to do this, they pay the lowest possible wage. Then these corporations will play the game that if they had to paid higher wages, that would raise the prices at the grocery store affecting already financially strapped people. When in reality, they could pay a decent wage if they didn't put shareholders and greed first.

You know, what I have noticed is - lots of nations throughout the non-Western world - white nations - have the same situation as there is in some nations of Europe - a HUGE portion of poor and destitute - and a strata of persons hugely advanced. Some of the Middle East nations - where the rich live - and their medical facilities - and their technology - it's impressive. You can't visit nations like Singapore and China and South Korea and NOT be impressed with how advanced they are. Ditto for India - which continually shows the world with their impressive scholarship and technology.

But all of them are awash with throngs of poor. Mexico is actually rather advanced for a Western nation - but they have a massive problem with poverty. Eastern Europe is like this - incredible poverty - and brilliant minds.

This isn't about race. It's about culture. I used the western Europe culture in my example. Those places are 6 of the 7 G7 nations. Notice that list doesn't include Estonia nor Lithuania. They are also populated by Caucasians. But they don't have the same mettle as the people in the G7 nations. Maybe that's due to being under the yoke of communism for a few decades.

Just like the hispanics in Argentina live a very different life than the El Salvador variety hispanic. Same subgroup but with different cultures. Perhaps this is due to the European population that migrated to Argentina. I doubt very few Germans picked San Salvador as a place to relocate.

1 thing I noticed when I was in the navy, no matter which country you pull into, there will be some mega yachts in the harbors. Likely someone in that nation figured out how to use the system to their financial benefit. Maybe they opened a business or invented something useful.

Brownsville, TX is located in the US. But if you go there, it feels foreign. Because it's populated by mostly Mexicans. I'm sure a good part of the local population are recent arrivals. And they create an environment that is very similar to the places where they were born. This is due to their culture. Brownsville doesn't look like Paris or London or Great Mills. It looks like Jaurez. That shouldn't surprise anyone. Now take that same population in equal numbers and export them to any US city. In no time at all, that place will look like Jaurez also. The way you prevent that from happening is to slow the numbers coming in and make sure those folks adjust before you let any more in. Instead, we end up with press 2 for Espanol and voting ballots printed in several languages.
