A lot depends on whether you want country or city Ambience.

Country you cant beat Capt. Leonards ,Drift Inn or Seabreeze.

Go to Cobb Island and try Capt. John's

City go to Solomons. Whichever you go to take money. Seafood isnt cheap.

Clarke's Landing has an awesome crabcake, but the rest of their seafood is terrible. I had the broiled platter last time I was there and the scallops and shrimp were cooked to within an inch of their lives.

River's Edge in Benedict is great, but, as are others, expensive.

My parents eat there a lot. But, my mom has found that the waitresses get your order wrong quite often. Not sure what that's about.

Ott and I love it there. We eat there a lot, but we eat in the bar and Robin takes great care of us. They have a great crabcake sandwich.

I like Stoney's. I also like Capt leonard's, and the Drift Inn for crabs.

I've only lived here for a year and I will tell you that as far as seafood restaurants go, I'm a little disapointed with the choices here. You may be better off just taking them to Waldorf and eating at the Red Lobster if they want something consistently decent (but not great). If you really want good seafood drive to New England......

The strangest thing about living in SoMD is that it is very difficult to get good seafood, even the seafood from Chesapeake Bay. There are no good fish restaurants in the local area, just an endless array of crab houses.

Your folks from Kansas can probably go to a fine restaurant and order up a nice steamed 2 pound Maine lobster, maybe even stuffed with scallops and shrimp. Not us.

Crab, crab, crab, crab, crab! (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

I would recommend taking the folks to one of the Stoney's establishments (Broome's Island/Kingfishers/Solomons Pier) and ordering either the soft shell crab dinner or the !*excellent*! crab cake. The soft shell is a true Chesapeake Bay delight.

The crab meat in almost every crabcake served in SoMD is canned from Indonesia. (SSShhh... Don't tell anyone.)

I go on my seafood sprees when I am AWAY from SoMD. Dungeness Crabs, Halibut and Copper Creek Salmon in the Pacific Northwest. Lobster in Maine and the Maritimes. Plump Bluepoint Oysters from Long Island. Crawdads in the Gulf (but I have also been known to eat mushy Gulf oysters at 10 cents apiece at Acme or Felix in NOLA.) Cobia and Grouper in Florida. Best of all... Lake Perch, Walleye, Pickerel and Whitefish from the Great Lakes. I know this place in Saint Ignace, Michigan...
